4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of information in a small publication 3 Aug 2006
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Naturalists' Handbooks are inexpensive, thin volumes on different groups of insects where there is very often a lack of published information. 'Blowflies' packs in a wealth of information on this interesting and forensically important family, including a relatively good key for all British genera and the most frequent species. Well written and with useful colour illustrations (particularly of the heads of some species), you won't easily find this information elsewhere. Very good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars an perfect introduction 11 Nov 2006
the book is ideal as an introduction to blowflies (a quick serch here will confirm the only other book on blowflies in Rognes (1991) which altho an amazing book, can be taxing to use and sells for between 50 and 120), i often use this book in favour of Rognes (1991) as it is more simple to follow and a much more manageable book to hand in one hand while holding a pinned fly that you are trying to identify
