4.0 out of 5 stars Flippin' hell I love this band!!, 15 Aug 2006

(REAL NAME)
That Veruca Salt are, were not and never will be the most popular band in the world is one of lifes many travesties as they were at the time that this four-tracker came out bloody awesome. Lodged between their debut LP "American Thighs" and the bigger budget "Eight Arms to Hold" You this finds them with their original line-up before all the messiness of mainwomen Louise and Nina falling out, and the former trying to keep the band afloat to diminishing returns. The opening two tracks are prime Veruca rage with shitheavy guitars and screamy, sweary vocals; track three is more mellow and the final cut is a classic builder. It's produced by feedback-fiend Steve Albini and at nineteen minutes fits easily into a short trainride home after a crappy day at the workplace! What more do ya want?
The fact that even mediocre Veruca Salt (about half of their third album!) is better that most groups output means that if you only have a modicum of taste and a pair of reasonably functioning ears this is a must buy if you've already got their first two longplayers!!!
