Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

London's famous Blow Up Club has been shaking dance floors on a weekly basis since the early 1990s. This collection gathers together some of its most popular favourites, a funky mix of Northern Soul, Latin jazz and 60s psychedelia. Wah-wah's, bongos and Hammond organs collide with tight basslines and bright brass, an unrelenting groove that will cause even the most cynical hips to shimmy. An assortment of never-forgotten classics--the Spencer Davis Group's "I'm A Man" (featuring a younger, funkier Steve Winwood on vocals), Andy Williams' version of "House Of Bamboo", the Coaster's "Love Potion No. 9"--mix with lesser known gems like the Quik's "Bert's Apple Crumble", the Incredible Bongo Band's "Bongolia" and James Clarke's "Blow Up A Go-Go". --Robert Burrow

This disc contains a cracking mix of funky 60's hammond driven dancefloor pop and several contempory tracks you could almost call nu-lounge. An interesting fact about this compilation is that I've heard at least 5 of the tracks used as background music for TV adverts, subsequent to the compilation's release. Now that's what I call ahead of the curve!

James Clarke's Wild Elephants - the Gap Khaki's A Go Go advert

Karminsky Experience's Exploration - Foster's larger (the one with the Feng Shui expert)

Soul Hooligan's Sweat Pea - Boots ad for cosmetics

Bert's Apple Crumble by The Quik - Advert on BBC1 & 2 for Radio 2

25 Miles - Edwin Starr - Remix by the 3 Amigoes used to advertise Kiss 100 FM

And I'm sure other tracks from this comp. will be broadcasting from your TV speaker soon!

Every track on this CD is a total gem. Bert's Apple Crumble is probably my favourite, a particularly groovy instrumental that cannot fail to get you on the dancefloor. I am also starting a one woman Georgie Fame revival based on the brilliance of Somebody Stole My Thunder. There are tons of fanatastic songs on here, so I won't go into details. Needless to say, if you love to dance. If you love sixties music at its most cheesy and 'loungetastic' this is the album for you. I defy you to listen to this without having to get up and dance about every two minutes. In fact, roll back the carpet, turn up the volume and don't bother to sit down at all.

Totally amazing album.... it has been in the car for ages and I am still not bored with it... also brilliant for the gym (but beware - you may find yourself dancing along on the running machine!!) Many varied friends have now heard the album and they all love it, an introduction to a different 'genre' of music... You will want to hear more...
