Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

Not to be confused with the other James Taylor, JTQ are a strange hybrid of Nineties tongue-in-cheek cool and Sixties kitsch, who fashion their a peculiar instrumental blend of funk, mod and acid jazz on Hammond organs. Despite producing several albums of their own composition, Blow Up! shows where their allegiances lie, with a series of classic Sixties cover versions. Their choices are pretty obvious--Bond, Alfie and Mission Impossible to name but a few--but they are delivered with such gusto it doesn't really matter. Unsurprisingly, JTQ were featured on the soundtrack to Austin Powers. With a sound encompassing kitsch, comedy and good fun, they could be pop's version of the International Man of Mystery themselves. --Amber Cowan

4.0 out of 5 stars Funky Music 27 May 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is a great album for a summer day, very funky and easy to listen to. The tracks that include vocals are mediocre but the rest of the album is top notch.
Watch out for the funky cover of Mission Impossible!
It's all very Austin Powers...

5.0 out of 5 stars JTQ A-OK! 1 Feb 2010
Format:Audio CD
Excellent, budget label compilation of rocky, Hammond organ led, jazz-funk; much brighter and bouncier than The Collection. I saw the band live at a Liverpool club in 2003 (getting James' autograph in the process!) and they were great. Check out the Whole Lotta Love cover version...GROOVY!

4.0 out of 5 stars Acid Jazz at its finest! 31 Aug 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is the perfect cd to play when you've got a frew friends coming over for drink -- hip and urban. It's the kind of music people will have not heard of, but will want to get after listening to for only a little while.
Their version of Whole Lotta Love alone is worth getting.
