Book Description

2 Mar 2006

'I feel blessed that I have been able to bear children, but I'll be honest with you: I'm no earth mother. I did not spend my pregnancy pottering about in a kaftan with an ecstatic expression on my face. I suffer from terrible morning (noon and night) sickness, I get acne, I get quite depressed, and rather large. I would've killed for a book that gave me, the mum, some survival strategies for looking and feeling good about myself during pregnancy and in the first few weeks of being a mother, but I found they were all about my and the baby's health. So I had to work out my own plan to feel happy, healthy and gorgeous. And here it is!' Mel Sykes

Blooming Beautiful is divided into two sections, Big and Beautiful and Yummy Mummies. In each part Melanie and Hilary give fantastic advice on looking good, fitness and vitality, healthy eating and understanding emotions. Interweaved with Melanie's sometimes hilarious, sometimes incredibly touching observations from her own pregnancy, this is the guide mums-to-be have all been hoping for. From simply finding the right bra, to changing your shampoo, to being prepared for the whirlwind of hormone-induced emotions, Blooming Beautiful is packed with all the information Miriam missed out!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW - Fantastic ! 11 April 2006
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
this is by far the best book and the most confidence giving book I have read since finding out I was pregnant 4 months ago... I read alot so since I have found out about my pregnancy I have had my nose in every type of baby book possible, but this one really is what it says it is, for the Mum to be ... Melanie Sykes draws on all her own experiences and ups and downs and shares them with you and advises you on how to make the best of the bad bits and enjoy the good bits. I really think she is a fantastic person for letting people into her own experiences and mind and if you try no other book try this one because it makes you feel good about YOU and gets you thinking about all the things you can try and keeps ya mind off of feeling horrible sometimes .... Thanks Melanie ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! 8 Mar 2012
Format:Paperback
I bought this book when I was expecting my first child. Although I have bought many pregnancy/childbirth related books I must say it was a pleasure reading this book. It is very well illustrated, at times emotional, funny and quite hard to put down. I liked the fact that Melanie gives mums-to-be hints and tips on the emotional side of pregnancy and labour and how to make you feel happy, healthy and gorgeous. I loved page 113 which is for the dad-to-be, great advice!!!

Most books focus on the unborn baby so I liked the fact that Melanie focused on both mother and child and how to feel great during this special time in a woman's life.
All in all a good, nice, colourful book which i would recommend.
