Product Description

Edward Jessop is a vampire with an embarrassing problem – he faints at the sight of blood.

Traditional, Victorian vampire, Edward, has fallen on hard times. Forced to leave his long-term home in a disused crypt, he is offered lodgings with Kevin – a vampire of more modern but less gentlemanly and intellectual persuasion. But this personality clash isn’t the worst of Edward’s problems. In the midst of these changes, he has developed an aversion to blood.

A humorous novella of the paranormal genre.

Please note: This book was originally published under the pen name, Melanie Dark. A print edition is available under that name.

More About the Author

I live in rural Devon where I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist and teach guitar, having moved down here for the solar eclipse and stayed. I have a degree in psychology (Sussex) and a masters in archaeology (Nottingham) and these subjects tend to crop up in my writing, whether fiction or non-fiction.

Fiction:
My latest novel, The Cat and the Cathedral (Book 1 of The Green Man Trilogy) is just published. It's a traditional YA mystery/adventure, suitable for age 12 upwards (including adults!). Contemporary, with just a hint of paranormal, it's set in real life locations in Exeter.
The Girl on the Swing is my debut novel. Set in Nottingham and Lyme Regis, it explores themes of past lives and regression, although it is not primarily a book about the paranormal.
My second novel, Cave, features scenes of underground exploration and draws on my own experiences of the sport. It is about friendships and relationships rather than disaster or terror!
Bloody Scared is a shorter book and is a humorous vampire spoof.

Non-fiction:
Editing a Better Book is my guide to all aspects of self-editing.
Archaeology Walks in the Peak District is published with Sigma (now part of Stobart Davies) is recently being published in a new edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fangs for the fun! 17 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Sorry about the crap pun in the title there. I couldn't help myself.

This is a lovely piece of light whimsy with a splendidly eerie start. It's the perfect length to whip through in the bath - you can get a special plastic bag for your kindle for bath and beach use. The style is open, readable and easy, the characterisation excellent, the conversation natural, the touch light and the humour omnipresent. It grabbed me from the off and I didn't surface until I'd finished it.

This book is short, I think you'd call it a novelette (apologies if I've spelt that wrong) and it's deceptively well written. Such a straighforward open style looks so easy but trust me on this, it's not. As a reader I enjoyed it a great deal. As an author I'm suffereing from a certain amount of professional jealousey. Quite a lot of professional jealousey actually. Possibly enough to cause seething.

Recommended.

Please note, I'm posting this review again because the book has come out under the author's own name and it isn't showing any more.
