5.0 out of 5 stars The Fiery Heart 21 Nov. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
Sydney has gotten over her prejudices against vampires and is now in a relationship with Adrian. However, things are not going smoothly between them knowing that Jill can see their every moment together and having to hide their relationship from everyone, especially Sydney's little sister Zoe. However, Sydney wants to get closer to Zoe and try to convince her that the Alchemists are not as perfect as they have been brought up to believe. With Sydney trying to keep so many things secret, such as her magic, and Adrian struggling with his Spirit will they be able to keep their relationship a secret while still enjoying their time together.

The Fiery Heart is the brilliant fourth book in the bloodlines series but is a bit different from the other books as it is from the POV of both Sydney and Adrian, however, this adds much more to the story. This book is really romantic, much more than any other book of Mead's which I have read, but this did mean that there was less mystery and action but there was enough that it did not feel lacking.

We can really see how much Sydney has changed during this series as in the first book she was much more like Zoe, although a bit more open because of the events of Vampire Academy, but now she thinks much more for herself and does not just want to please her father and the Alchemists. However, this book is much more about Adrian and his struggles with Spirit, and I love seeing inside his head as we get to see how much he loves Sydney and how responsible he has become while still being the Adrian we have grown to love. The romance in this book is amazing and I love seeing Sydney and Adrian as a couple and them both knowing how much they need each other, and mean to each other.

The ending, whilst I knew it was coming, is a massive cliff-hanger and I am not sure how I am going to cope until Silver Shadows comes out. I would recommend The Fiery Heart to people who have enjoyed the rest of this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Her best book to date! 25 July 2014
By Book Passion for Life TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Oh my gosh! The Fiery Heart literally took my breath away. There was me thinking The Indigo Spell was the best of the series so far, well, I was wrong. It's definitely The Fiery Heart and once again, Richelle Mead creates another spectacular read.

After the events in The Indigo Spell, Sydney's choices left us readers breathless and completely over the moon. Her choices lead to so many awesome things in this instalment, but it also comes with some bad ones too. When her sister; Zoe arrives, Sydney has to be more careful than ever, if she wants to crack the Alchemists secrets and continue to working with Marcus....and of course, sneaking in some Adrian time too. But the more time she works with the Moroi and Dhampir's work, the more suspicions starts to grow.

The Fiery Heart was a very special treat for all us Adrian fans, mainly because we finally get his point of view. Squeee!! I know you're all doing a little happy dance, and it's definitely a happy dance you should be doing, because Adrian's POV is fantastic. In the VA series, we all knew who Adrian was and even at the start of the Bloodlines series, we see him slowly start to change, but actually getting in his! To see all his struggles and to see how he deals with his magical element spirit, at times, was completely heart-breaking. He's driven to always help people - it's who he is - so as soon as Lissa, the Moroi vampire Queen asks him for help, of course, he's first in line. What people don't realise is how much spirit is affecting him and they don't know how he feels, but we do in this and I'm lost for words. It's hard to describe. At times I want to hold Adrian because I feel so bad for him, we really do see him at his worst in parts of the story and it all results into the amount of spirit he uses.

    5.0 out of 5 stars I am impressed! 29 Jun. 2014
    By C. Jean-Baptiste VINE VOICE
Let me preface this by saying I have read books 1-4 of Bloodlines and all the VA books prior and this is my favourite. Multiple reasons for this but mostly because I am a romantic at heart and this one has romance in spades. More than any of the others. Plus you get a POV from Adrian which we haven't seen before.

Absolutely adored it. Not to say I didn't see the end coming but that isn't the point. Sydney is complex, smart and likeable. Rose Hathaway from VA is a hard act to follow let alone by someone who is quite the opposite in temperament and background but Mead manages making us relate to Sydney effortlessly.

Her change from book one is almost complete thanks to her sweet teacher and of course Adrian.

Literally a teenage girl's fantasy crush and although I am well out of adolescence I was charmed as easily as a 14 year old meeting R-Patz in the flesh (or at least I assume that's how it would feel!) He is sweet, passionate and a bit off kilter. All good qualities. Sydney is a better person for loving him and vice versa. It is nice to see a balanced relationship in a YA book that although is set in a fantasy book is realistic/modern enough that it doesn't encourage the girl to put her hands under her man's feet.

These books remind me of the Night World series by L.J. Smith I did read as a teenager. If you can't wait for the last book or want something to read after I strongly suggest those are your next go to series.

I don't even know where to begin with this book. It has left me heartbroken and traumatised.

I knew whilst reading that things where too good to be true, that something had to come along and spoil things but seriously that was like 10 steps too far and I just don't know how to deal with it. I can almost hear you out there, the ones who read a book but never really delve into the book and connect with the characters, judging me.. telling me 'its just a book' and to 'get over it' and 'honestly its not a big deal'. Well let me tell you, I have loved these characters since Vampire Academy. Separately I thought they were great, flawed but great. Together they are superb. And I have to agree with Adrian, they shouldn't be allowed to have children "what with the overwhelming power of our collective charm, brains and good looks".
Both characters have grown immensely since we first met them in VA and even more so since we met up with them in Bloodlines. I had to do a double take when reading it was Sydney's 19th birthday... No way, how does she get to be this grown up and responsible at just 19.
Add to that the smoldering relationship they have with each other and suddenly this doesn't feel like the YA series it started out as. Rest assured all those anxious parents who (like me) have allowed their children to start reading this series, it does stay very much Young Adult, more adult themes are talked about, and written around. We get the impression of the intimacy and love but no actual descriptions.

Ok so the love story aside... My heart broke for Adrian in this book. No one understands how much spirit affects him, not even other spirit users and I feel that people spend so much time judging him that the only person who truly see's what he's going through is Jill.
