New Author - New Book - New Monsters

Only a Handful of World Governments Know the Truth - We Are Not the Rulers of Earth.

'They have torn apart people I cared about. I want to know what those things are, Colonel.’

'They are a genetic abomination — a split in man’s evolution, if you like, Keagan.’

Eddie woke up from one nightmare and entered another. Except, in this nightmare, the monsters are real.

After years of running away from his past as a medic with the SAS, Eddie Keagan’s combat experience is being put to the test again. He is recruited by the shadowy Colonel Sixsmith to guide a Third Blood combat unit through the corridors of a London hospital to hunt Bloodeaters who have fed well on the unfortunate patients and staff. Somewhere in the labyrinth of wards and rooms, the leader of the Bloodeaters is holding Eddie’s girlfriend hostage. Eddie will have to put his trust in the Third Blood Strike Team as he fights to get her back.

Across the other side of the world, a political conflict rages. The Third Blood Council, headed by President Gabriel Aquino, is preparing to elect a new member to the Council of Nine. Praetor Thoragan is one of the candidates, a deadly rival capable of doing anything to ensure his victory — a victory Aquino will have to stop at all costs.

˃˃˃ Two Unknown Evolutionary Races — Third Bloods and Bloodeaters — Fight a Centuries Old War for Control of Humanity.

In 1944 he tracked the secret to an SS camp buried deep in the vast forest of Bialowieza.

Now in 2019, he brings a centuries old conflict to a London Hospital and drags a reluctant Eddie Keagan into the fight to save the woman he loves.

As the fight in England rages; across a continent, Gabriel Aquino is also fighting a war to keep a madman away from the power he craves.

More About the Author

I was born in London, but raised in a small rural village in Wales in the early Sixties. I remember this time fondly as it was a formative part of my life that spawned a passion for writing and telling stories.
As life moved on I worked in various jobs until I ended up training to be a psychiatric nurse. After qualifying, I worked in hospitals, the civil service, and as a community nurse. However, the one constant I needed to feed was writing. So I took the plunge and gave up the day job to write full-time as I couldn't hold back the dam bursting with restless stories that needed telling. With the commitment and time this has given me, I completed my first novel in the Bloodeaters trilogy - Blood War.

Living in tranquil Suffolk helps feed my notebooks with bizarre and disturbing scribbles on how to kill off my characters. Thankfully, my wife understands if I begin to talk to the voices in my head.

Writing is a major passion and one I am lucky to be able to pursue. I'm currently researching and writing the second novel in the Bloodeaters Trilogy, and gathering together all the short stories I've recently had published and turning them into a book.

While my reading tastes are fairly open and broad, picking up Blood War was a bit of a departure from my more ‘female’ choices but a friend recommended the book to me and I wasn’t disappointed. There’s action aplenty but the thing which I really enjoyed was that there was a really pretty gripping story with a few outcomes I wasn’t expecting.

I don’t want to give much of the plot away and I don’t think that a review is really the place for a synopsis, but Blood War centres around a fight between humankind and a vampiric cloven-hoofed race with some pretty evocative scent markers. It focuses on the experience of one man - - who is unwillingly drawn into this battle when it lands on his doorstep, coming into the hospital he now works in and his lover seems likely to become collateral damage.

A nice bit of historical scene setting kicks the book off but after that it’s pretty much full-on action as the fight between evil and humanity (I don’t think the characters would class themselves as ‘good’) rages on with barely time to draw breath.

At times it gets pretty dark, and I mean mostly because the story draws you into the bowels of this underworld and hospital, and for me it had a really filmic quality. Most novels conjure up mental images but this would lend itself well to a big screen adaptation, and anyone who is a fan of films such as Underworld would definitely feel at home in the dank, threat-filled space we inhabit along with the central players.

My favourite character was Thoragan, the corrupt politician, and I think it’s with this character that Rees has definitely shone. Odious and disgusting, you can’t help wanting to read more about him and he seems to inhabit a kind of lavish cesspool.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Story Of A War With Both A Prize And A Price. 16 Aug 2014
By Barbara - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
'Blood War' is one of the most brilliant Sci-Fi books I've come across in a long time. The title of the book seemed very appealing to me and the description heightened my curiosity to no end. And, boy was I glad that I decided to buy this book.

The protagonist of this story, Eddie Keagan, is a character that has been brilliantly portrayed by the author. The story is about a Third Blood combat the motive of which is to hunt for Bloodeaters, who have killed the innocent people at a hospital in London. This story involves Third Bloods and Bloodeaters fighting a war that is centuries old. A war with a prize and a price. The control of humanity would be in the hands of either of these two groups at the end of the war.

I think the author's done a great job with writing this book. Rees' description and imaginative skills are certainly up to the mark. Both his wit and his imagination have resulted in the masterpiece that is this story. I was thoroughly impressed by this book. It exceeded all of my expectations! I would recommend this book to absolutely any fan of the Sci-Fi or Thriller genre. This is one book you do NOT want to miss. Great work, Kevin!
5.0 out of 5 stars recommended for Sci-Fi fans 22 Aug 2014

This book holds a lot of heart break about Eddie Keagan, I liked the characters so much. It has a rich world view that you can really get into. As the story progresses it gets a little weird, but in the end you can accept it and just go with it. It's fantasy, right?
I absolutely recommend this book for Sci-Fi fans. It's a really good story. Wonderful Work.!
