Product Description

This is the sequel to the #1 Bestselling novel, Blood Red Turns Dollar Green. It contains strong language.

-------

1972 and Danno Garland stands atop the wrestling business. After years of planning, backstabbing and shady handshakes, he controls the World Heavyweight Champion and most of the territories where he can wrestle. In Danno’s business, the man who controls the Champion controls the money and the power that goes with that honor.

Battle after battle and Danno’s finally made it to the top of his closely guarded, cash business.

And it means absolutely nothing.

Not now. Not anymore. Not since he was informed of what happened in that small hotel room in Texas.

F*ck the business.

Lenny Long has just skipped out on Danno’s territory for a different life with his family. After spending too long on the road he wants to re-introduce himself to his young children. But before he can truly settle out west, he needs to make things right in New York.

And he’s going to do it by returning a bag full of money to its rightful owner. A move that lands Lenny in the middle of a bloody clash to protect the secrecy, and the continued survival of the longest con in American history.

Problem is, they’re now trying to protect it from Danno Garland.

After being introduced to Paul O'Brien on a wrestling based site, i was keen to get stuck into the first Volume of this...and as soon as i was halfway through i ordered the second volume.
the story is a fantastic crossover of Wrestling and its workings within the territorial years in america, with a hard hitting crime based storyline..
I really could not put this book down and will be starting Volume three immediately.

I Recommend this for all wrestling fans, but you really do not need to be a fan of the wrestling world to enjoy these books, it delivers on all angles and really is an amazing read.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great follow up to volume one 3 Dec 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book took me further on the journey of the dark and devious cast of characters, you are left feeling that only a limited number of characters are good guys as like in life we have many shades of grey.

The format is enjoyable as you build up the story and the motivations piece by piece.

This was a fabulous follow up to the first novel and in many ways better as you get to know and care about the characters more and more.

Though I've subscribed either to The Wrestling Observer or Pro Wrestling Torch on and off for 20 years or so and have read some good (and some pitiably bad) wrestling biographies and autobiographies, I've read just the one novel "One Fall" by Spencer Baum before I came across Paul O'Brien's "Blood Red Turns Dollar Green". I can't remember exactly when I became aware of its existence but a couple of weeks back I finally got round to ordering it - went for volume 2 at the same time deciding it was a minimal risk I'd be taking.

Read volume one inside two days and am currently halfway through volume two. I should perhaps add that about 10 years ago I started to write my own wrestling novel (briefly a tale of two British wrestlers thrust together as an unwilling but successful UK based pairing who we're picked up by an American federation, and that's where it all started to go wrong......you're safe though folks - never got more than thirty pages into it.....maybe one day) so I felt I knew what I expected. What Paul has written is a fictional tale with more truth in it that you might imagine, told simply and starkly, rolling along at a breakneck pace.

I used to subscribe to newsletters in those pre-internet days as I was honestly more interested in reading of the intrigue and backstabbing that went on in(and between) the WWF and WCW than I was in watching actual wrestling matches, so I make no excuse for praising Paul for satisfying my needs in this regard - there's little in the way of actual wrestling action described but plenty of behind the scenes dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly recommended 9 Jun 2014

I admit, I was sucked in by the glowing words of Mick Foley. It came at the right time - having read dozens of wrestling bios I wondered if a well written, intelligently thought out novel existed. This is it!

I ordered vol 2 before I reached the halfway point of the first and the first? What a cliffhanger. Vol 3? Bring it on.

I hope someone's bought the film rights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Equally as good as the first Volume. 30 April 2014

After reading the incredible Blood Red Turns Dollars Green volume 1, I was convinced that there was little or no way in topping the story, boy how wrong was I?

Blood Red Volume Two picks up immediately after where the first book ends and continues the story with complete congruence to the first one and without spoiling the first book for new viewers it really feels like a perfect follow up, many times with book sequels there is a certain unwelcome intrusion when new characters are introduced but with Blood Red Volume Two there simply isn’t anything unnatural or imposing about it, it really does feel like a natural follow up at times and a firm extension of the existing storyline, if you loved the original characters like Lenny Lane, Danno Garland and Babu then you'll absolutely fall apart with adulation of Sugar Stick Shane Montrose and his incredible journey, it's not really a sequel per say more like a sidequell as so much of the tale relies on flashbacks and call backs to the original book, but not in a way that seems like a retread or a rehash at all but further enhances it, the prose is perfectly paced and easy to read and at no point does the wrestling aspect of the book put a non-wrestling fan at ill ease, as everything wrestling related is either explained therein or marginalized to not seem daunting to the reader.

it truly is a tour de force and is a book that I've read more than once and have recommended to everyone in my social circle, in the rather staged world of pro-wrestling it's easy to become cynical if you’re a fan and suspect everything as having a hype job behind it and not being quiet as good as it actually may be, but Blood Red Turns Dollars Green Vol.2 and Blood Red Turns Dollars Green Vol.1 are easily worth the positive press that's associated with them and I truly can’t say a bad word about either.

Steve Pearson.
