Rachel and Theo are teenagers growing up with individual problems at home and in school. Rachel is shy, not at all confident with her appearance and is bullied horribly at school. Meanwhile Theo fights with his mother to discover the secrets in their family and why he constantly has to be protected by a bodyguard. When Rachel receives a strange text from her father reading "The goddess is safe in heaven", everything starts to escalate and the two come together in a race against time to find out the truth about their genetics, attempt to triumph over evil and have a little romance along the way!
Like 'Girl, Missing', this teenage thriller is jam packed with action and very unexpected twists and turns from start to end. I was dubious at first when the plot began to follow a fairly typical chick lit structure (unattractive, bullied girl falls for more attractive, popular boy) but it quickly picked up and although slightly surreal at times, it was still a fun read. The short snappy chapters told from alternate points of view of the two main characters made it difficult to not keep thinking "I'll just read one more chapter" and I found it hard to tear myself away.
Definitely give this a read if you enjoyed `Girl, Missing' and be prepared for lots of surprises.
