Book Description

14 Feb 2013 Drake Chronicles

Solange Drake will not claim her birthright; she will not be queen as vampire tradition dictates. But change always comes at a cost . . .

Possessed by a vengeful twelfth-century witch, Solange commits heinous crimes against the vampire tribes that she pledged to empower. Motives are questioned. Trust is broken. The treaty between the Drakes and the Helios-Ra is under threat. Solange must escape the folds of memory and time and fight for the fate of the royal crown - and win. Her destiny, and her heart, depends on it.

The deliciously dark and dramatic finale to the much-loved Drake Chronicles series.

Product Description

The Drake Chronicles is a series that just keeps getting better and better . . . Alyxandra Harvey has created a fun, fast paced and seriously sassy vampire series (Daisy Chain Book Reviews)

Praise for My Love Lies Bleeding:

Walk away now if you have issues with clever humorous writing and a bit of reworking of the vampire genre. Nothing about this novel is what you expect, even if you've had your fill of Twilight and Lestat

(My Favourite Books)

Praise for Out for Blood:

Romance and blood mingle freely in this skilfully plotted vampire drama

(Julia Eccleshare Love Reading 4 Kids)

Praise for Bleeding Hearts:

Underneath the love stories, action and hilarity, these books really do have an underlying murk that never allows readers to sit completely easy. As always, Alyxandra Harvey's writing is a joy to read

(The Mountains of Instead)

5.0 out of 5 stars Blood Prophecy 13 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Blood Prophecy starts straight after Blood Moon, Solange has been possessed by Viola, the first born daughter in the Drake family, and now Solange is stuck inside Viola Psyche and must find a way to get rid of her and getting her own body back. At the same time Lucy and the Drake's must convince everyone that Solange is possessed and it is not her who is acting this way. Also, this mysterious Dawn is still at large trying to course conflict between the vampires and the hunters.

This is the final book of the Drake chronicles and unlike the last two books in this series, this is a brilliant book, I love how it ties up the loose ends but still but also leaves the option for more stories in Violet Hill. This book is action packed but also has humour and romance as well.

I can't say much more about the characters which I have not said before apart from Solange is much less annoying in this book than in the last. Also I do love Lucy and Nicholas they are one of my favourite couples in paranormal books. I really like how we get to see the other couples as well from previous books as it really links the books together. Harvey did a brilliant job with Dawn as I could not predict who it was and was really shocked when I did find out.

One tiny complaint with this book is that it felt like two books reduced into one but as Harvey did say that she was planning on writing 7 instead of six it is understandable. I cannot wait to see what she writes next and hopefully someday soon a spin-off with Lucy or some short stories about the Drake brothers that have been missed. I would recommend Blood Prophecy to people who liked the first 5 books in the Drake Chronicles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blood Prophecy 20 Feb 2013
'Blood Prophecy' is the final thrilling instalment of one of my favourite vampire series by one of my favourite young-adult authors. This is one of the first series that I started reviewing on my blog so it is sad to say goodbye to so many well-loved characters.

The story centres mainly around Solange and finally begins to explain the reasons for her strange behaviour in the previous book. Everything gradually slotted into place but there were still plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the very end. I like the way that Harvey always has something extra up her sleeve and continually leaves the reader wanting more.

Solange shared the bulk of the narration with Lucy, although Christabel and Hunter chipped in too along the way. In my eyes, Lucy has been one of the best characters in the series. She is funny and witty, incredibly brave and feisty and always looks out for her friends. She is also loyal and stubbornly determined but the latter in a good way. Her scenes with Nicholas were awesome and made my toes tingle. I would love to see a spin-off just about them and what happens to their relationship in the future!

The story culminates in a tremendous battle involving vampires and humans and I enjoyed seeing everyone coming together to fight for what they believe in. Each character has to step up to the mark when it really counts but they know they can always rely on each other. There is lots of action and excitement throughout, especially in the second half of the book but there are also some lovely scenes between some of the couples in the series and some touching family moments.

Fans of the series will not be disappointed in the send-off given to the Drakes.

4.0 out of 5 stars I don't want to let go 12 Feb 2013
By Book Angel Emma VINE VOICE
Please bear in mind that this is book 6 in the series and may therefore contain spoilers for the previous books.

Firstly let me start by saying that you really need your wits about you when reading this book. There are just so many things going on. The multi-person narrative while giving insight and understanding on a deeper level to the characters and plot took a little getting used to on this occasions because as I have already stated this book is just packed full.

While all of the characters voices are represented within the story the predominant voice is that of Solange. It is without a doubt her character development that shines through the story, with Lucy's a close second, bringing the story full circle as they were the principal characters in the first book.

Alyxandra Harvey's ability to drive the plot and the character development simultaneously is a true testament to her skill as a writer. This book does both these things brilliantly. While the characters themselves develop into amazing individuals I did feel as if their relationships were secondary elements within the narrative. For me it was the relationships that were the foundation of the series and I was only marginally disappointed that we didn't get to see more of the couples in this book. However, there is so much going on and so many plot threads tied together in this final installment of The Drake Chronicles that I cannot complain too much

I honestly don't feel as if I am ready to let go of the Drake's I am desperately hoping that Alyxandra will write a few novellas with the relationships as the center so I can get my closure especially with Solange and Kieran as well as Lucy and Nicholas.
