5.0 out of 5 stars Blood Passage 27 Jan 2012
By Kathleen Kelly - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Blood Passage is an exciting murder mystery that will keep you turning the pages. I love reading murder mysteries and police procedurals. Full of exciting characters, good and bad. The story is about the re-investigation into the murder of a young man, Martin Liu, which happened 4 years previous in the story. The case is re opened when a little boy starts saying strange things from a person in his previous life. The police are of course skeptical, especially hard nosed Dectective Stainer who with Homicide Dectective Hank Donaghue decide to investigate it anyway. As they get further involved in the investigation they are embroiled in the ways of the Triad. This is a story entwining two cultures, good and bad people, and the law. I especially loved the character of Karen Stainer, a no nonsense tough woman who is not afraid to get nose to nose with the criminal element, but does have a soft side to her. A very tense edge of your seat type of page turner that will keep you guessing to the very end. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, this book will certainly make you go hmmm at the end. Michael J. McCann is also the author of The Ghost Man, a supernatural thriller. His new book of the Donaghue and Stainer Crime Novel Series, Marcie's Murder, which is scheduled for publication in Spring 2012.
I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Story 10 Dec 2011
By Ken byars - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Blood Passage (The Donaghue and Stainer Crime Novel series) by Michael McCann is a well written book that will keep you riveted to the pages throughout the complete novel. He weaves a story of suspense and intrigue that winds between 2 cultures and the conflict and tension between what is right and what is the law creates an awesome story. Donaghue & Stainer make for an unusual team but Mr. McCann has found a way to use their differences, to create not only tension between them but compliment their work styles.

I am not a crime reader, (I prefer the Bourne Identity type of books) and picked this book up because of a friends recommendation. I really liked it and once started finished it in less than 2 days. I just couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.

If you are looking for a well written book that follows an intriguing process of events then this is a must read book. Excellent as a stocking stuffer or a gift for that special reader under the tree.
5.0 out of 5 stars Blood Passage- Enthralling Crime Novel 21 April 2012
By Isobel Poe - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I don't really read crime novels or mysteries. I have read one children's mystery a few months ago and several Janet Evanovich books because those can (sometimes) be really funny.

Blood Passage isn't the average crime novel because there is a bit of the 'unknown' in the plot. Four years previous to the beginning of the book, a rather straight-laced Asian fellow in his twenties was murdered. Now a three-year-old boy has convinced a university researcher that he was the murdered Asian man, well... before.

Lieutenant Hank Donaghue and snappy, sassy Detective Karen Stainer are investigating a related attack, then the cold case of Martin Liu, the young man murdered four years ago and trying to balance the information from the three-year-old as the bodies pile up.

The social hierarchies of Asian communities and the police force are examined and explained in comprehensive detail. I actually studied Asian culture and Mandarin for awhile in college (don't ask me anything!!!) and enough research was done and detail used that I didn't laugh and I felt like I had learned a few things.

Blood Passage is entertaining and exciting all the way to the last page. I am glad that I had the opportunity to read it.
