1.0 out of 5 stars Just Too Dreadful for Words ... 2 Feb 2009
Format:DVD
So dreadful that I resent the words necessary to fully describe its asinine awfulness. The stereotypical student researchers deserve to die, especially since the state of their acting means that they die a thousand deaths even before their incredibly predictable demise. The only fun thing to do is to decide which of these facile caricatures you hate the most and watch longingly hoping that they die first.

Why do these movies get made? Also, why is a movie about apes called Blood Monkey. A film about killer chimps that is called Blood Monkey gives you all the warning you need. Steer clear, remember that if you watch this you will never get that time back and it will have been forever squandered.

2.0 out of 5 stars Blood Monkey 9 Aug 2008
Format:DVD
Blood Monkey. You have to come to the conclusion about this movie "is it worth the pittance i earn,to be spent on this drivel?" Answer, "OF COARSE NOT YOU MORONIC FOOL!" Come on,if you need to have a creature feature fix thats going to make you sssss..shudder with utter tension from behind the couch(you coward)then for goodness sake get 2006 king kong or Shakma, they will make you jjjump with terror if not embarrassment! This has rather large toothed, faceless baboonish type creatures...you just don't see enough of in this movie! A bunch of international students..sorry thick no hoper students..What More? ,hiking through the jungle in search of these beasts is both daft and pointless. There is of coarse the mad scientist..MAD SCIENTIST..NO NEVER! Yes and a no hope hero who gets trapped and killed with last surviving fellow student and possibly both eaten at the end of the movie in a dark cave full of these huge fanged baboonish creatures. No Ape-athy here just terror from the thought of wasted time and effort! 4 out of 10 for total ape-athy!

5.0 out of 5 stars monkey business? 13 Aug 2012

I KNOW BLOOD MONKEY HAS RECEIVED SOME CRITICALLY BAD REVIEWS BUT IN ALL FAIRNESS LETS EXAMINE ONE OR TWO OF ITS SPECIFIC POINTERS.MANY REVIEWERS HAVE STATED YOU DONT SEE THE SO CALLED BLOOD MONKEYS UNTIL THE NEAR END OF THE FILM.THIS IS TRUE BUT THEN THIS IS THE CLEVER BIT IN HORROR MOVIES IN GENERAL THAT WHAT YOU DONT SEE IS ALL THE MORE FRIGHTENING-WHY? BECAUSE ITS ALL LEFT TO THE IMAGINATION!THE SECOND POINT IS F.MURRAY ABRAHAM-WHAT IS AN OSCAR WINNING ACTOR DOING IN A B MOVIE SUCH AS THIS WELL THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN AN ACTOR BECOMES OLDER TOP ACTING ROLES BECOME HARDER TO FIND.I CAN THINK OF A NUMBER OF REALLY TOP NOTCH ACTORS IN HOLLYWOOD THAT ARE SCRATCHING AROUND FOR ROLES IN FILMS.MODERN FILMS SEEM TO HIRE ACTORS FOR SHORT TERM CONTRACTS WHICH ARE SHORTLY AFTERWARDS CANCELLED AND SOME YOU NEVER HEAR OF AGAIN-BUT HEY THATS THE FILM INDUSTRY FOR YOU.ANYWAY I FOUND THE FILM ENTERTAINING ENOUGH WITH THE LUSH JUNGLE SCENES THE DESCENT INTO THE HIDDEN VALLEY WHERE THE BLOOD MONKEYS RESIDED AND THE INTERACTION BETWEEN F.MURRAY ABRAHAM AND THE STUDENT PARTY PLUS HIS SINISTER NO.1 THE FOREIGN GIRL WHO EARLY ON DISPOSES OF ONE OF THE FEMALE STUDENTS BY KILLING HER AND CHUCKING HER IN THE RIVER.THE SO CALLED "RAIN"WHICH WAS MONKEY PEE I FOUND HILARIOUS-PLUS THERE WERE ODD BITS IN THE FILM WHERE STRANGE THINGS WERE GOING ON BUT THE STUDENTS WERE NOT AWARE OF.O.K.SO THE C.G.I.GORILLA IN THE CLOSING SCENE WAS JUST A C.G.I.GORILLA-SO WHAT?THERE IS NO WAY YOU ARE GOING TO GET YOUNG ACTORS FACE TO FACE WITH A LARGE FEROCIOUS GORILLA IN REAL LIFE OTHERWISE THE CAST WOULD BE DECIMATED FOR REAL!SO LETS VIEW THIS PICTURE FROM ANOTHER ANGLE AND NOT LOOK FOR THE OBVIOUS FAULTS THAT MOST MOVIES HAVE ANYWAY.FROM MY POINT OF VIEW I VIEWED THE MOVIE NOT EXPECTING TOO MUCH BUT NEVERTHE LESS ENJOYED IT FOR WHAT IT WAS.
