Product Description

Product Description

Nick Ceratto, a young, cracker jack litigator looking for a partnership in the prestigious Philadelphia law firm of Maglio, Silvio, and Levin discovers his firm's dark seceret for increasing it's bottom line while preparing a medical malpractice case for trial. The partners are setting up major cases by seriously injuring and even murdering their clients to produce huge jury awards. When the firm discovers he knows, Nick's only hope is to stay one step ahead of the hitman long enough to intentionally lose his case and expose the firm's corruption. As his mission careens towards an explosive climax, the only question left, is whose lives will be sacrificed along the way.

BLOOD MONEY is a classic examination of the duality of the American justice system, it's strengths and weaknesses, and the interplay between it and raw ambition.

BLOOD MONEY is a disturbing depiction of a system gone wrong, and the one time golden boy who is finally able to understand the bigger picture and remember the oath taken and his dream that was once so clear.

REVIEWS:

"For anyone who already dislikes lawyers, Blood Money will feed your disdain. It's an insider's view of how the law is played as a dirty business, and how nothing -- least of all, the law itself -- will stop the "worst of the worst" players from getting their way." ~ E.J. Beard, 5-Stars

"I must recommend to you Blood Money (an apt title), an excellent book, a real thriller. I just finished the book. Actually I just started it, and then finished it in record time because I could not put it down." ~ Rick Pickwick, 5-Stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly satisfying read 12 Feb 2012

This is an American legal suspense thriller. Although being English I have no idea whether the courtroom scenes are accurate, the story came across as perfectly credible. The characters were all believable and all evoked strong emotions in me both the heroes and the villains.
The story itself is fast paced, with twists that I never saw coming and a perfectly satisfying and clever ending. It was actually shockingly believable that the sort of thing described in the book could actually happen, and what a scary thought that would be... In my opinion, and I don't say this very often, it could be transferred to the big screen quite easily.
Although I got this when it was a freebie, I wouldn't have minded paying for it as it is just as good (if not better) than a lot of the better known authors' books of its genre.
I am certainly going to look out for further offerings from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read 9 Sep 2012

The plot has many twist and turns.
Once you start reading the story you will find it hard to put your kindle down as you will be waiting for the next victim of the law firm to emerge.
You try to calculate who will be next to be murdered and for what reason.
An excellent read and I hope that Ms Rizio follows this book with lots more legal novels that contain the two main characters of Nick and Grace.

Nick Cerrato is a young lawyer, destined for the top in his field. He is ambitious, and is trying to emulate his mentor Joe Maglio who is renowned for his skills in the courtroom. But then Joe is found dead, and the police believe it to be suicide. This is only the beginning of a sequence of events that exposes murder, treachery and corruption which Nick has to deal with. His choices are difficult; his long desired career against his belief in justice.

Laura Rizio has written an excellent novel full of twists and turns. It is very clear that she understands the law well, and it will come as no surprise that she herself is a personal injury lawyer - although we only have to hope that she is nothing like the characters in her story!

She writes well, and the plot is fast moving. I had no idea how the story would end, and found it full of intrigue and colourful characters. I'm glad that I didn't read the Product Description posted on Amazon first though, because it gives away far too many of the secrets in my opinion. I didn't read it until I was writing this review and was surprised that some of the key elements of the plot were revealed - things that I hadn't realised until I was well into the story.

But if you like fast paced suspense based around the US legal system, you will certainly enjoy Blood Money.

Some sections of the novel have a small amount of Italian dialogue, and as I speak Italian, I recognised that there are a number of spelling mistakes. But I suspect that for the majority of readers, this won't detract from the enjoyment of a very good novel.
