Book Description

SAS Brigadier-General Rory O'Sullivan is stranded in the desert with four of his men at the height of the Gulf War.

A desperate US attempt to rescue the Britons ends in complete failure.

Only the troop sergeant ever returns, badly wounded and out of his mind.

Almost a decade later, The Balkans are being torn apart as newly formed states fight over long-harboured grudges.

In Paris, an ageing American General is abducted by mercenaries attempting to deliver him to Serbia, where he will be held hostage and used as a human shield.

But SAS Lieutenant Peter O'Sullivan is on their trail, and he is convinced that the kidnappers are the very same men responsible for the disappearance of his uncle in the Gulf…

With nearly 300 books under his belt, Charles Whiting was one of the most prolific writers of his time. His best-known books were published under the name Leo Kessler and featured the Assault Regiment Wotan, Hitler’s hand-picked SS battle group. They include ‘The Valley of the Assassins’, ‘Schirmer’s Headhunters’, ‘Cauldron of Blood’ and ‘Guns at Cassino’.

Charles Whiting never fails to deliver a gripping thriller, and Blood & Honour does not disappoint. I really enjoyed the multiple layers of the plot (especially the link with the Gulf War) as it added some real depth to what might have been a stereotypical story of kidnap at the hands of the enemy. Overall, a fast paced and well thought out book, just what I wanted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent military thriller 13 Aug. 2014

Not quite as enjoyable or educational as author's Wotan series, under the pen name of Leo Kessler, but Blood and Honour is still a page turner. Whiting has great sympathy for soldiers and knows how to write action sequences. Characters could do with developing more but don't let that put you off.

Quick easy read. Enough going on action and plot wise. Will read more by this author as I suspect not one of his best.
