Joe Clayton the hero of the book, is thrown into a maelstrom of bad guys and bad weather. On the run from a gang set on retribution. Joe finds himself in what appears to be a utopian town, but all is not as it seems, and out of the frying pan and into the fire Joe heads. The prose and descriptions of the town can be long winded, almost to the point of boring at times.
But Tom Bale has this uncanny knack of keeping you dangling, to the point that you forget, and continue to be enthralled, and await the next twist in the story with anticipation..
I felt that some of the characters were a little two dimensional, and needed more padding to be utterly convincing, but this is still a cracking read..although the end when it comes, does so abruptly..hopefully leaving room for a further instalment for Joe Clayton.
This author improves with every book that he writes, and I have read them all. well worth a look.
