Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Containing eight remixed tracks from Jackson's 1995 HIStory, as well as five new compositions, Blood On The Dancefloor tastefully mixes old sounds with new. The new songs which open the album are led by the thrash-pop title track, which is reminiscent of many of the creations on Dangerous. "Morphine" is a dark and emotive track, while "Ghosts" and "Is It Scary" are autobiographical accounts of fatherhood and the problems of privacy which followed the birth of his baby. The disco remix of "Stranger In Moscow", meanwhile, is an excellent up-tempo remodelling of the original track. --John Galilee

This CD crept out from the shadows without an accompanying statue, magnificent tour or half-hour multi-million dollar promotional video. Instead, Blood On The Dance Floor is an interesting collection of eight remixes of his HIStory collection and five brand new songs. The remixes are, as remixes tend to be, danceable pop. But the new tracks are really something else. They offer a glimpse into the tortured and scared mind of the world's most famous man. The title track, like Jackson's greatest work (Billie Jean, Who Is It), is a hip R'n'B workout that sees woman as predator once again, also offering a metaphor to the dangers of HIV. Morphine is a suprising dark and gothic industrial rock study of drug abuse that got the star in the mid-Nineties, whilst Superfly Sister further states Jackson's fear of sex in a style that salutes once rival, Prince. Ghosts is an attack against his enemies, largely the British press and Is It Scary is perhaps the enigmatic star's most interesting work since They Don't Care About Us. It is a heartfelt plea from behind the stage with lyrics that are guarunteed to raise those hairs at the back of your neck. This won't sell much but that's not its intention. It came without the blockbuster hype of his previous albums but with a alarming talent that reminds us why we made such a fuss over this guy in the first place. Its real success lies in Jackson's musical growth that should secure his position on his throne as the King of Pop.

This is the best Michael Jackson album I have heard since 'Thriller'. The remixes are awesome. I have the Todd Terry remixes of 'Stranger In Moscow' at home and a really cool Deep Dish rerub of 'Is It Scary?' on vinyl. While some of the remixes are unneccessary, one or two would definitely be played again, the Frankie Knuckles mix of 'You Are Not Alone' being one of them. An excellent remix package and a great album. Well done!

This really isnt an album, but just remixes of songs from history, including 5 brand new tracks: *Blood on the dance floor-The openning track has a great 80 disco vibe, and a great dance video to go with it. *Morphine-This is an incredibly strong and emotional up tempo song.He screams the vocals in his wild temper just to prove his feelings on the subject. *Superflysister-This is really going back to mikes "off the wall2 days,as this song is very soulful and rnb,its very catchy too.

*Ghosts-This is my fav new track,it starts off very quiet and slowly builds up into this fantastic dance tune,i luv it,very jazzy and smooth. Well i would go on,but i cant be bothered, the best tracks ive ever heard!!!!!!

A Brave Move by MJ
One of MJ's more unique releases, Blood on the Dance Floor / History in the Mix is effectively 2 albums in one. This distinction seems deliberate, considering the dual title. Read more

Almost unknown
It's a shame that this cd is almost unknown by everybody. Nice tracks and nice remixes of the history album.

Blood On The Dance Floor (History In The Mix) is seen as a low point because it didn't chart high in the USA where it was a flop, but not a flop because people supposedly lost... Read more
