Fr. Elias Chacour is a champion of the Arab-Israeli peace process. His book, Blood Brothers, challenges the reader to analyze his own feelings and assumptions about Palestinians, Jews, and Israel. The book also gives the reader a very personal look at the history and drama surrounding the Palestinian Christian people. Their story is one of great sorrow that is seldom seen or heard in newspapers and television. Any person interested in the Arab-Israeli peace process should read this book.

Touching and Positive 19 July 1998

Format:Paperback
Despite some questionable facts -- the expulsion of his village in April 1947(?!) rather than late 1948 as most other records show -- this is a touching and hopeful book for those seeking Middle East Peace. Even with such technical errors and a very Arab tendency to resort to conspiracy theory type reasoning, it is a far better portrayal of Middle East realities and problems than the malignant tripe that has passed for popular writing or history (e.g. Leon Uris, Bernard Lewis, Daniel Pipes).

Father Elias Chacour is a Palestinian Christian Israeli citizen who has striven to reconcile Arab and Jew through peaceful efforts and mutual understanding. His memoir is written in an easy touching style and chronicles his life. Free of the prevalent falsehoods and stereotypes of Palestinians that one might read in a Leon Uris novel, we are led by the hand through the real injustices inflicted upon the Palestinians and the efforts of people -- Arabs, Jews, and outsiders -- to bring peace to the troubled land and its peoples.
