5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great game 24 April 2013

This is an enjoyable game the chaos version is only available on steam as far as I know I bought it as well its hardly better it only has chaos dwarfs and underworld a mix of goblin and skaven extra. I prefer the hard cd copy of this game
as you don't need to be online to play it.

its worth buying

4.0 out of 5 stars True Tribute to game at last for fans 6 Nov 2010
By Archer
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This game finally has all the things we wanted as a fan of the board game, namely all the teams, all the rules, extras, and skills. Commentary has been improved somewhat with extra lines of dialogue, and stadiums no longer have an empty feel to them with fans being visible.

As a traditional player, I have only touched the blitz mode a little bit, favouring the original games rules, which can get very one-sided against the AI either for or against you, which has a pretty unbalanced and unpolished feel to it, but the real fun of this game is with playing against other players. Bring your own teams, host your own competitions, and play with your friends. Your development of your teams and nurturing your players growth is where this game shines.

If you are a fan of the game, you will love this as a way of bringing your characters to life, and if you are new, this is a nice way of being introduced to the board game.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Boardgame Ever? 20 Dec 2010
By Veers
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The coin is spinning. You are experiencing butterflies in your stomach. The wait is unnerving. You stare at the message on the screen: "Looking for Opponent." Who will it be? More importantly, *what* will they be? How experienced will they be? The server is supposed to match you with an opponent of the same caliber, but if this is not your first game, you know it doesn't always work out that way. Suddenly, the message changes: "Connecting..." Here we go!

Blood Bowl, in this reviewer's opinion, has since its conception in 1987, evolved over five editions to simply the best board game this reviewer has ever played. It is categorically unwise to call it the best boardgame in the world unless one has played all the boardgames in the world, but there is *evidence* to suggest that the statement *might* be true.

All boardgames start from a more or less pre-determined or at least from a limited number of scenarios, right? Not so with Blood Bowl. With twenty different teams to choose from and a practically infinite number of builds for them, two games are unlikely to start the same, whether you're playing against A.I. or another human. And even if the teams in two games are exactly the same, the playing conditions (the weather) and random events that occur even before the first turn are likely to instantly give each game a different starting situation. And that's just with *newly* created teams.

All boardgames end when one player wins, right? Not so with Blood Bowl. The keyword around which the Fifth Edition was developed was "Perpetual", meaning that you could play the game FOREVER. It would just consist of any number of matches. Very RPG. You start a team. You hire your starting players.

3.0 out of 5 stars Loyal to the boardgame..but... 4 Jan 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I played BB as an adolescent some 30 odd years ago and was pleased to see a computer version of it. I won't go into details, but will list the pluses and minuses.

Pluses : The rules of the original are followed to a tee.
The variety of teams is excellent, even including the drow, ok ok THR DARK ELVES.
A good tutorial, if a little basic.
Good campaign mode, but may get repetitive.
Good team advancement.

Minuses :
The biggie is the AI in single player mode. Despite what you hear on some forums the dice are weighted against you and unless you grind away for hours on end and become an excellent tactician, you will not win games. However if you go To the Blood Bowl website and click on Forums > You vs AI > Are the dice supposed to be that weighted for the AI?,read down a bit to the post by Spectre this will tell you how to make the dice rolls truely random as in the real game

[...]

Again, even with this the AI is fairly insipid, which is probably why they weighted the dice in the first place.

The UI is terrible and confusing, once you finish a tournement you can't go back and review the standings etc etc. It's basically backwards or forwards arrows. For instance you get the Buy Players button even if you can't afford them, click it and you get the, you don't have enough money notification (obviously).
Customising is average, you can only change the armour, there are a few skins for players, but nothing exceptional, btw, the dark elves are pink skinned/white.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game 19 Dec 2013

American football, orcs, blood, gore, chess and dice. What's not to like!

However not one for Madden fans - it's basically a tabletop board game - chess with dice!

The game itself is good and fun However there is often a difference between what you intend to do ad what the game actually does The Board game is a lot Better and a lot More Sociable

4.0 out of 5 stars It was a present for someone else
I can't really rate it because it was delivered direct to another party as a present and I have no feedback. I've had no complaint so presume it does just fine.
