I was looking for a laptop stand and thought I'd go "green" so I put my money down and bought a Blogpad. I expecting the Blogpad to be made from higher grade cardboard.
The design is really very clever, the two sides are connected with two pieces of cardboard folded into a square section which are removable so the whole unit can be separated into four pieces for storage.
There are is a video that is recommended viewing showing the thing being constructed, it doesn't take long to put together but the video is a bit misleading - it shows the guy who put it together placing a portable T.V. on the Blogpad but not in the centre, over one end where one side supports the weight easily. If you tried that and put the T.V.in the centre (the natural position for it) the unit would more than likely collapse, there is a gap in the centre for cooling and it makes the whole thing a bit flimsy.
One problem is that it is so lightweight that any laptop will make it very unstable.
The cardboard that is used is coated with plastic and printed, but only on the side that becomes the outside, this adds to the cheap look and feel of the thing.
There are some really good plastics out there (like the plasticard that estate agents signs are made from) which would be just as "green" considering the fact that most of these blogpads will probably end up being quickly put away and not used, I know mine has because I felt that my laptop was always in danger of falling off due to overbalancing.
If you are considering one of these then my advice is to move on and buy something that will actually work and be used - much greener in the long term.
