3.0 out of 5 stars Useful for crafters 9 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a lovely book, well produced and full of gorgeous photos. The technical content is a bit light but the book does serve almost as a directory to some of the best craft blogs out there. I like the interviews with other bloggers and how they got started. One thing I would query however, the author states that all photos on Flickr are free. They are most definitely not and I worry that this could get some of her readers into trouble regarding copyright law.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book 27 Nov 2009
By SuSiMaC
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Its real eye candy and has lots of lovely blogs to visit, not as helpful as I thought it might be, as I already have a blog so was looking for ways to jazz it up more, but if an absolute blog beginner it would be helpful as it shows how to set a blog up, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and will use a few of her tips that I didn't know or think about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect if you want to start a blog! 10 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I originally borrowed this from the library and didn't want to give it back!
I agree that this is not ideal reading for those with an already established blog but it is perfect for those looking to start out in Blogland.
The technical advice is sufficient to get you started without being overly complicated.
The interviews with experienced bloggers are extremely useful (how they started, what they would have done differently etc.)
The photos are great, making this a pleasant read even if you have no plans to blog yourself.
I have been inspired to write my own blog, and did so with the help of this book alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it 9 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
A glorious book. I am reading it right through and will then go back and work on some of the ideas for my blog, particularly the photo aspect. I can then go and view the blogs of those highlighted in the book. The photos are fantastic, the writing easy on the brain, the write ups and hints from other blog owners is all great.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 6 Jan 2012
By scgc
Format:Paperback
This book felt very light on content and I finished it in about half an hour. Most of the content is descriptive articles about specific blogs, with comments from the blogs' authors. The blogs discussed felt very samey to me - lots of people blogging about vintage. I'd rather have heard more from some of the more distinctive crafty or arty bloggers (there is very little about art blogs in the book as opposed to craft), perhaps about how they manage when what they make is a bit different or challenging. The message seemed to be to keep one's own blog innocuous - there are a couple of mentions of keeping politics or strong opinions about of one's blog, and not using bad language. I'd have liked to have known more about some of the darker sides of creative blogging - how to deal with negative comments (there are one or two brief references to this), plagiarism, online spats etc. And I agree with other reviews that the technical content is at a pretty low level.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic, informative book that you must own 27 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
I have thought about setting up a blog for a while now, and although I knew it would be a beneficial thing to do, I didnt really know how to get started so was looking for a book to help me and ' Blogging for Bliss' certainly did.

It is extremely informative and fun at the same time, found myself looking on line at the blogs that were featured throughout the book.

Chapter 1 explains why we should have a blog, choosing the name etc and you also get to see the blogs of many different people.

Chapter 2- Tools of the trade which discusses domains, banners and profiles and the best places to get help as well as see the blogs of more bloggers.

Chapter3- Learning the ropes which determines your level of skill, the set up of a blog, how to write good posts, acronyms, and webspeak

Chapter 4- Beauty and the blog which discusses imagery, taking good photos, adding borders, jazzing up the blog, what you can and cant use

Chapter 5- Traffic School which is about inviting people to visit your blog, ideas to promote your blog, tips to help search engines find your blog, increasing traffic to your blog

Chapter 6- Finding business in Bliss which is about using the blog to promote your merchandise and services, selling services for profit

Chapter 7- If emily (posted) which is about behind the scenes, continuing the creative circle

I really do reccomend this book to anyone who needs a push in the right direction and needs some help to start their creative journey through Blogging. Well worth the money.
