Typical Sweet funk and noise from 1971-until 1975..the ultimate GLAM band with Brian on lead vocals and Steve on comical back up vocals!..Andy running the group because of Brian's Alcohol problem..and supurb drummer 'Mick Tucker' with a formula texture of of all four giving a vocal arrangement that has not been matched since..TOTAL GLAM!..even when Steve was a bit over the top...But i blame that on 'Pans People!'A snap and a bargain!..T.C.

I'm on holiday at a holiday park and every night they play Sweet during the evenings entertainment. I get home and feel a compulsion to go out and buy a Sweet album. This is the only album I can find.

The first disc contains what I think are most of their hits except Love Is Like Oxygen which, strangely isn't on it. A couple of filler tracks complete the line up. Disc two seems to be a perspective of some of their album stuff.

Sweet made some killer music in their day and whilst the recordings do sound a bit dated now the music is very catchy and has certainly stood the test of time. Can't argue with the Chin and Chapman partnership. The second disc is interesting in that you get a chance to hear what Sweet are really like behind the pop hits. They are surprisingly rocky but this is likely to appeal more to the fans than the casual listener.

Overall, this is a good compilation if you want some Sweet music. Pity it does not feature all of their singles.

Sweet were the 'house band' of the mighty chinnichap writing duo who delivered so many hits in the seventies. But don't hold that against them. They were actually superb musicians and inveterate rockers. Their own stuff was much heavier. This CD covers both sides of the band. The bubblegum pop - which incidently I love - on one CD and their own stuff on the other.

Listening to it I realised that they were actually influential on a lot of music that came later most notably City Boy and Heavy Metal Kids. The latter are credited with influencing post punk bands so you can see it is far reaching.

Great for a good bop or a head bang.

A good selection of tracks featuring the biggest hits of glam rock group The Sweet. For me it could have been a single CD as CD 2 is not of much interset to me - probably for die hard fans. Sadly missing from the CD is Love is Like Oxygen. Glad it has Fox on the Run on the CD as really like this track.

As with most Best of compilations there are some great song and there are some which you have to ask yourself "how did that get on there?" It's good to reminisce. I still find myself yelling "BLOCKBUSTER"!!! at the top of my voice in the car. Can't embarrass myself there. Recommended.
