5.0 out of 5 stars Great game 10 Oct 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation3|Verified Purchase
Having been a fan of Diablo 1 (not liking Diablo 2) I was unsure wether to buy this game or not. Having looked at various reviews I was split further but seeing it on offer cheaper than anywhere else on Amazon I decided to take the plunge and I'm glad I did.

The game got into the action fast and the graphics were great. The controls were easy to follow and the skills really enhanced the gameplay. The variety of weapons, armour and accessories available really made tailoring your hero fun.

Barbarian does exactly what you expect a barbarian to and jumps into every fight smashing anything and everything in its path.
Monk whilst starting slow soon grows into a powerful fighter, although maybe if never as strong as the barbarian.
Wizard is a great magic user and has a good assortment of offensive and defensive spells making him a good team player, it not a great solo character.
Demon Hunter is just another name for your old fashioned ranger, but his ability to hold 2 crossbows and some great skills make him a good addition to any party or play alone.
Witch Doctor is Blizzards idea of a sense of humour, and it's great. You walk around like the hunchback of Notre Damme, summon some crazy ass monsters and launch some awesome poison cloud spells that just melt opponents like they weren't there. With it's summons, the witch doctor can be played solo or awesome as a support character.

My conclusion is this game doesn't need any thinking, any concentration or commitment, you simply turn it on, and kick the hell outta anything that moves. Defo recommend this to anyone who is remotely interested in RPGs' and if you liked Diablo of old, this is a true upgrade and well worth the time and money.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it! 4 Sep 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is my first experience with the Diablo series but being a big fan of RPGs, looting and hack-n-slash games, I thought I'd give this a go and I'm so glad I did. I've never played the PC/Mac version of Diablo 3 so I can't comment on it or compare it to this console version.

The controls are simple and work perfectly, applying a skill to each button couldn't be easier. The graphics are from an isometric view, so character models are small but are very detailed, as are the outstanding backgrounds and surroundings. The music is very atmospheric however the dialogue can be a little corny at times. There's five character classes to choose from so plenty of variety and replayability. The story seems fast paced and interesting from the start. And best of all, this game is extremely fun!

I'm only about 10 hours in so far but can already see this being a new favourite and one I'll keep playing until I've done and unlocked everything. Absolutely brilliant game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great to have Diablo on PS3. 4 Sep 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation3|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I can remember playing the original versions of Diablo on the Playstation and it was always one of my favourite games. So of course when I saw that this was coming out on PS3, I knew it was a compulsory purchase and an exciting prospect!

It is certainly not a disappointment to those who were fans of the previous games - it looks very good on the PS3 - very nice cut-scenes that are based around a look of being taken from ancient books in a sort of gothic/literary style. The character creation gives you a lot of options, with choices of male/female and the addition of a "Withdoctor" class that is very well realised and there were too many options really - I can see I will have to re-play the game as different classes and this is one of the big features of Diablo - the re-play value.

This Diablo version stays true to the original concept and has elements of a full RPG - with lots of customisations and skills. plus the idea of picking up items and developing your powers. However, it has its own take on an RPG, with its overhead, 3/4 view and a constant hack and slash through dungeons of enemies - there is some puzzle solving - but it is more of an action game than most true RPGs.

It keeps your interest though, by being fast-moving and leaving out some of the tedious elements of RPGs. I liked the constant auto-save at checkpoints and the extensive use of teleport points, so you almost never need to re-trace your steps. It does have more elements of story and quests than most action games - so keeps up the feel of and RPG throughout and there does seem to be purpose and progression.

However, Diablo's big selling point is that it is fun to play and easy to get started.

4.0 out of 5 stars How it should be played!! 7 Oct 2013

Great port from the PC. New menu format works well and game runs smoothly for the most part. A little darker graphically than the PC but doesn't make it a bad port.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diablo 3 PS3...console versions are the best 11 Sep 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation3|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Just a few short points.
This is Diablo 3 for the consoles . I'm playing it on PS3 as unlike Xbox 360, you don't need to pay the yearly online account fee ( Xbox Live) to play this game online on PS3. However, other than that the games seem almost identical in content on both consoles.

There is no Auction House in the console version, which also means there is no "always online" requirement as per the PC version, which , oddly, gives the game a far more "free" feel.
The fact you can play and develop your character offline, then take the same character online with upto 3 other players without issue is a massive positive of the console versions over the PC version.

You can trade feely with other players online, and so far my online experience has been solid and stable, and at time of writing I have spent a good few hours getting my Mage upto level 34 and have just started my foray into the "Nightmare difficulty level".

Control of your character is also "Direct" now, meaning any movement on the control pad is directly translated to screen, whereas on the PC version, you clicked to your destination and the character ran there. A small, but good upgrade over the PC version.

There appears to be a new set of difficulty levels in the console version now.
Medium/Nightmare/hardcore etc , are all from the PC version, but each of those has a "sub difficulty" level now, ranging from Easy, medium, hard etc to Master level 2,giving a total of 6 "sub difficulties" meaning theres been some serious fine tuning of the game difficulty. It should be noted that D3 on the consoles is no push over, and it is still engagingly challenging.
