I have been a huge fan and repeat client of Blistering Barbecues ever since they started their buh-rilliant catering business and they kindly sent me a free copy of this tasty book when it came out. Since that time, I must have bought at least 20 copies for friends and family and I really need to replace my own, which is now a little dog-eared and sticky! I tend to cook a bit like this anyway, but the Blistering crew are miles better, so they make me look good in front of my guests whenever I use one of their recipes. The dishes are all bursting with extraordinary and authentic global flavours... but better still are a doddle to make. They are great for an intimate dinner or a big party (once you get all the chopping out of the way). Two nights ago, I cooked the salmon fillet with tangerines and shallots for the first time and wondered what had taken me so long. It's worth buying this book just for the sauces and dressings, which are hugely imaginative. I was prompted to write this review because today - a beautiful summer's day in Cheshire - my mum and I recreated 3 of the salads* for a party of 20, all of whom are clamouring for the recipes, so having seen the bargain price I am sending them straight to Amazon! Along with Ottolenghi's, this is my favourite cookery book of all time. The little Blistering book of wraps etc is great as well by the way.
* in case you're interested we made the creole coleslaw with horseradish mayo, the vivid green salad of peas and beans with a Japanese-inspired dressing and the jewel-like Persian rice salad!
