I remember being intrigued when first hearing about blinx. suprisingly I never thought that a person like me, who prefers a good FPS or beat-em-up, especially when i prefer multiplayer gaming, to be purchasing a single player cartoony platform puzzle game. The time control aspect is brilliant and is sometimes essential in order to progress, but in a nutshell makes puzzles easier as well as fighting time monsters. the objective of each mission is to kill all the time monsters on each level within 10 mins. In this respect it's not too puzzle packed but there are some puzzles which you might find quite dificult if you find it hard to grasp the time control aspect. I don't normally play puzzle games but this game veers more on the side of platformer and I think what probably drew me to blinx was the total originality on the time control idea. Time can be paused or slowed so in general the world is easier to move in and deal with, Fast forward is used to speed up your runs if you are going for speed records, if a bridge collapses, no problem. use a rewind and presto, uncollapsed bridge. record lets you kill a few monsters and say, jump on a switch to open a door. then time rewinds and the recording of your actions plays back in real time, allowing you to go grab some time crystals, while not being hampered by any enemies, as they are all after your recording. I know giving a game the full score is silly, but I reckon this is gonna become a classic, and its good to see some non-launch titles that are utilising the Xbox Hardware to great effect. Microsoft is on the right track now methinks. release a few more games as original as this and you'll have it made.
