exceptional!,
By Ab Uffalo "akira" (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blindside (Paperback)
This is the first book by Moffat that I have read & it won't be the last - he is now on my must read list. Blinside is an exceptional thriller, bringing together Scotland's Strathclyde Police, The FBI, & ex-Secret Service operative, Sam Cahill. Cahill loses a former colleague, Tim Clark, in a plane crash near Denver in Colorado, & yet his name was not on the passenger manifest, & no one in the FBI or other US Intelligence Services are prepared to comment. At the same time in Glasgow, the deaths of two women lead DC Rebecca Irvine of the Strathclyde Police into a case involving a lethal new drud that is killing users. Cahill meantime heads for Denver with friend & lawyer Logan Finch, to uncover the truth behind Stark's death. And as the two separate investigations proceed, common links appear on opposite sides of the globe & inexorably, the two cases start to come together. What I particularly enjoyed about 'Blindside' was Moffat's control over the story, releasing small snippetts of information at a time, but holding back the 'big picture', all the while maintaining the tension, & the readers' attention. As the narrative traverses from Logan & Cahill to Irvine, & from Irvine to the bad guys, the heart of the tale remains indistinct, unclear, out of reach. The finale is more than satisfying, with no questions left unanswered & no feeling that something has been left out. 'Blidside' is an excellent thriller, from an author who reminds me very much of David baldacci in his earlier days. Only better!

Purchased on behalf of a friend (with this author's previous 2 books). She devoured all 3 books in a very short time indeed and absolutely loved them. She is now waiting impatiently for the next release by G J Moffat. Highly recommended.
