Product Description

Samantha Blythe just got out of an abusive relationship and she just wants to find a nice guy to spend a little quality time with. Too bad the guy she finds happens to be a vampire.

Nate Glover isn’t the right type of guy to be a vampire. He’s not a thousand year old Viking or an ancient Roman or a veteran of the Civil War. Even worse, he’s sexually straight and financially stable–the vampire equivalent of a Republican. Having been ‘brought over’ in 1955, he couldn’t handle being a vampire in the age of McCarthyism and Leave it to Beaver and decided to take a fifty-five year nap. Now he finds himself unable to connect with the women of the twenty-first century on any level more meaningful than a gastronomic one–that is until he meets Sam.

Sam and Nate hit it off, but it isn’t long before they have trouble. Sam’s ex doesn’t want to let her go and it turns out that the Mistress who turned Nate undead in the first place, feels the same way. When Nate’s scheming friend finds out there’s something special about Sam, namely that a taste of her blood increases vampiric power, the new couple are summoned to the capital of Vampire-kind. No, not Transylvania--Miami. Murder, mayhem, and a fight to the un-death ensue as Nate struggles to accept his powers, Sam learns to live with a man who’s a permanent night person, and they both try to bridge the generation gap and find true love in Blind Date with a Vampire

More About the Author

Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says "I'd rather be writing."

She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

I admit to almost giving up with this tale a couple of times, as the male lead, vampire Nate, was so stuck in 1955 that he almost seemed backward and I wanted to shout 'get with the times' more than once. So if you are looking for a hot romance, you won't be getting that, but if you want a readable tale with background and an actual story, then you will.

Sam is a human who meets Nate, a vampire who's been sleeping since 1955, in contemporary times, via a dating website. She very quickly realises what he is, but isn't scared of him, and she's immune to his Voice (power of persuasion and imprinting on her thoughts), but their dates are more like 50's dates than 2011 dates, as things are very, very chaste.

Of course, there are misunderstandings, and as Nate has neglected to pay tribute to his Maker for 56 years, Sam is abducted, and the vampire queen realises that same is a 'gold blood' i.e that a single drop of her blood is more powerful than a pint of that of a normal human. So, Nate has to challenge her for Sam, and there's some fighting and danger and a bit of gruesome stuff before the leads get their HEA.

It's not a sensual tale, nor a romantic one, as Nate is firmly suppressed in all ways of what was 1955, and making love to a female one wasn't committed to wasn't the norm. However, he was a man of integrity and principles, who Sam fell for, given that he was so the opposite of her abusive human ex, so yes, I bought that their tale would work for her.

In some ways, this reminded me of True Blood, the HBO series based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but not of the novels themselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars loved it 2 Jun 2013

I'm not really into supernaturals. I've read a few of them and they were good. This one is also very good. It started out slow at first. In fact I turned pages quickly to get to the interesting bits. The book started heating up mid way and then that's when it got very interesting. Compared to her other books, it was ok but I see this was written years ago. I loved it still. Anybody that loves supers would love this one.

If you liked 'twilight' then you will love this book - except this is probably a little more lustful, which for me is no hardship.

The main characters are very likeable and I loved the way Sam kept using her band little sayings in her head...quite funny sometimes.

Overall this is a great story and good ending. Can't fault it really. I
