Blind Date (original) This award-winning Dutch drama offers insight into male-female relationships as it chronicles several encounters between a bereaved mother who just lost her young daughter and a middle aged man. The story takes place inside the lounge of the Amsterdam Hilton where the two go for alcohol and solace. At one time both of them were entertainers. He had a magic/comedy act and she was a tap dancer. The plot chronicles several of their conversations during different meetings. Blind Date (remake) Stanley Tucci directs this remake of Theo Van Gogh s the story of two parents who talk, flirt, and fight with each other to try and cope with the loss of their young daughter. They go on a series of "blind dates," each placing personal ads in the paper and pretending to be strangers when they meet. They do this over and over again, both playing a series of different roles, in a desperate attempt to overcome their buried grief and rebuild their shattered relationship.

For those of us who live in the real world we know that there isn't always a happy ending and sometimes bad things happen, this is the movie for you. This movie features real world instances and raw human emotions that mega movies ("blockbusters") don't have. A great film for anyone who likes movies about actual life instances.

This movie is not what I expected and what a nice surpirse!!! A long married couple attempting to reconnect by placing personal ads and going on blind dates. No schlocky humor or sight gags. A remake of a foreign film. Slow paced, rich in dialogue. Heartbreaking. Oh and I guess I never really thought about this before but Stanley Tucci... hot.

although the ending was a bit predictable and sad. I really bought into their role playing, and could relate to it, as I have done this on a much simpler level myself. Obviously they could no longer relate to each other except on some level of fantasy. But I thought it was very well done and acted, and it held my attention throughout.
