Product Description

Product Description

This short but beautiful book, co-written by acclaimed singer-songwriter Matt Redman and his wife, Soul Sista's Beth Redman, explores how and why worshipping God can help us through times of pain and rejection.

The book includes deeply personal testimonies by both authors. Matt writes about the effects of the suicide of his father when he was only seven years old, and Beth writes of the pain of three successive miscarriages that the couple have suffered.

Matt and Beth feel the message of this book is one of the most important truths any Christian can learn, and it shares its title with that of Matt's new worship songs album.

About the Author

Matt Redman is one of the world's foremost Christian songwriters, whose worship albums sell widely in both the UK and USA. Beth Redman, his wife, has a teaching ministry to young women, having previously founded the organisation Soul Sista. They live near Brighton, England with two young children, Maisey and Noah.

This book looks at 1 of the biggest questions Christians struggle with. It gives many good personal testimonies of coming through suffering. I am not sure that all suffering is like Job and God given but what is not said enough is that when you don't understand your suffering it is the fact that eternity awaits does not changeand Gods love for you remains. God protects and holds us like the footprints poem says. What the book and the song do though is focus us back to the laments that we sometimes feel guilty about writing as songs or with God. I hope this brings up many more stirring songs about suffering. God does give and take away, but God also is there throughout, even if you have not been given God inspired suffering. What ever your theology is in that area.
Very well written, flows well and the writing style is good quality. A worth while read whether you believe in God or have searching questions that you want to enquire more about

This is a short and easy-to-read book on how Christians should respond to suffering. Matt and Beth talk about how they and others have responded at such times and they offer thoughtful and profoundly insightful biblical principles. The handling of the Bible is really excellent and their use of illustrations were really helpful to try and explore some of the mysteries of suffering.

This is a 'heart' book rather than a 'head' book as it deals so sensitively and honestly with the conflicting emotions that people experience, but it's just so wonderfully clear on God's character and how to hold on to what we know at times of difficulty.

Matt and Beth really shone for me as examples of people who have walked difficult paths, and don't belittle people's pain, yet still they are completely passionate about following God. I don't say this lightly, but I found their example inspirational, and really helped me get a good perspective back when my suffering had left me in a complete spiritual wasteland. This is an excellent book to give to anyone who is going through a hard time or experienced done kind of loss.

Excellent Book! 9 Dec 2005
By Felipe Fermin - Published on Amazon.com

I must say: I only buy books that I'm drawn to buy, not by just some simple emotion but I buy books that I really think -after praying- can be spiritually meaningful to my life in a particulary given moment. You see, some books can be a distraction and keep you of reading The Book you should be reading: The Bible. This one, you should read.

After hearing for the 1st time the song "Blessed Be The Name", I was touched and felt impelled to study the Bible and read all those passages that were somehow implied to in the song. Oh what a blessing! King David; Joseph, Job, a few psalmists, I found out I am not alone in this 'dark hour' of my life. I too, have chosen to say 'blessed be His Name'.

This book is definitely what I was waiting for. Deeply recommended.

Dee Lundgren Christian Counselor Langhorne, PA 21 Nov 2010
By dee lundgren - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
As a professional counselor and mother who lost her oldest son at the young age of 22 this book ministered to the core of my heart. The book is all about worshipping God on the road marked with suffering. There is something so profound when one sings this song as an act of worship with tears in your eyes. There is a deep sense of God being pleased with this type of worship. In an age in which praise songs can lack substance in times of intense pain this book and song ministers to the the felt needs of people in their times of deepest grief.
