very touching 26 Jun 2010
Format:DVD
A cracker of a film that had a cynical 50 year old near to tears, super performances all round but an extra special mention to Lillian Woods as the young shipwreck survivor waiting for her daddy, its not often that I watch "Modern Films",but for once I'm really pleased I did, a little gem

a haven of calm 31 July 2010
Format:DVD
I caught the tail-end of this film on TV and having viewed the whole thing on iplayer, I knew I wanted to watch it again and again.
Everything in this film is beautifully crafted; clever titles at the start, haunting music and a less-is-more, amusing dialogue. I watch it frequently for its sense of peace and the humour cuts across any sentimentality.

This film was a delight to watch. It is a very moving film.
James Nesbitts portral of a man that had everything and then looses all that is dear to him , removes himself from society and then gets himself back to life thanks to a young girl that gets washed up when her fathers boat sinks when a storm hit is fantastic.
It had me hooked from start . I was crying one minute through the sadness then crying with happiness at the end.
An excellent story with lovely scenery.

I would recommend everybody of all ages, to watch this film

Lovely film
A very sad story line, with a lovely ending. A good story told - and extremely well acted. But - the scenery steals the show....fabulous. A must watch film.

A good alternative to the endless Hollywood 'noise'.
This is classic British cinema. It's a heartwarming and very simple story about the process people go through when they suffer a loss. Read more

Are you Kidding me?
I bought this with the idiotic idea that as James Nesbitt was leading the cast then it was surely half decent. Wrong again. Read more
