Book Description

3 April 2008

From the author of the bestselling Anam Cara comes a beautiful collection of blessings to help readers through both the everyday and the extraordinary events of their lives.

John O’Donohue, Irish teacher and poet, has been widely praised for his gift of drawing on Celtic spiritual traditions to create words of inspiration and wisdom for today. In To Bless the Space Between Us, his compelling blend of elegant, poetic language and spiritual insight offers readers comfort and encouragement on their journeys through life. O’Donohue looks at life’s thresholds—getting married, having children, starting a new job—and offers invaluable guidelines for making the transition from a known, familiar world into a new, unmapped territory. Most profoundly, however, O’Donohue explains “blessing” as a way of life, as a lens through which the whole world is transformed.

O’Donohue awakens readers to timeless truths and shows the power they have to answer contemporary dilemmas and ease us through periods of change.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book and "Benidictus" identical content 29 Mar 2008
Please be aware that, contrary to the impression given, this lovely book is not a companion to "Benedictus", but is in fact the American version of it,the contents being identical, and both publications having 244 pages:the only difference would appear to be the cover illustration. The John 'o Donohue website clearly states this to be the U.S. publication, but anyone purchasing from another source would not be aware of this, including myself when I obtained a copy for a friend - we were both bitterly dissapointed. I have made Amazon aware of these facts, and I am sure that they listed this book in good faith, and trust that they will rectify the situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Same book as 'Benedictus' 7 Mar 2008
I was really disappointed to discover that exactly the same 'blessings' are in 'To bless the space between us' as in 'Benedictus'. Nowhere is this indicated and I had thought it would be 'new' blessings. I note that it is a different publisher but I wonder how legal this is?

5.0 out of 5 stars simple verses that will touch your soul 18 July 2013
By Mr. Stephen Redman VINE VOICE
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This was my first venture into the greatness of O'Donohue, and I hope it will not be my last. Superb prayers and poems fill this volume with great thoughts and blessings.
"for one who is exhausted" was the poem that grasped me so strongly and I love to read it again and again. I read the birthday verse to my wife on the eve of her 50th birthday and together we enjoyed those words spoken over one in exile.
This book is full of warmth and good ethical thinking that will stimulate the good in you, making you think of better times, places and ways.
A bargain and a welcome addition to my bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars For information 14 April 2008
By Bagpus
Format:Audio CD
I'm not sure if the above commentators are aware, but the author died in January 2008. Hence Benedictus (and it's US equivalent) must be his last book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A relaxing bedside read 9 April 2014
By hoult
It is an "adult" book with thoughtful conclusions and very good narration. I tried to order another one but got confused over passwords etc., and gave up so have not ordered it.
