Whoa! Like the proverbial bat out of hell Shane Mckenzie has ridin onto the horror scene with three amazing novella's so far this year, this being his third release (and yes! there's an awesome collection coming from Thunderstorm books around October). And by all that is unholy this guy delivers non-stop stories that are just what the mad doctor ordered.
This recent outing from the fine folks at Abattoir Press is edge of your seat writing at its finest. Hair pulling, gruesome, demented, action driven and a heck of a lot of fun to read. This guy just keeps giving books that you can't put down. Plus each of his latest offerings: Infinity House, All You Can Eat and this one are all extremely unique and individual in their execution. It's like taking the best of Troma, Fulci, nightmares, hallucinatory turns of expression and a nice healthy slice of humor and condensing it down to its basic and necessary ingredients to give the readers one of the best story journeys money can buy.
So if you can't get enough of the blurb and need a run down of how the story bleeds onto the paper it goes a bit like this...Chris the "lazy" no "good" son of an deceased porn star is just trying to enjoy his evening with his pizza, but of course he has to attempt it with the pounding music from his neighbors below. After a quick trip down to the neighbors apartment to ask for them to turn it down some, Chris stumbles upon one messed up scene. Bodies ripped to pieces everywhere and a crazed drug dealer named Spade whose very much alive among this bloody mess. Well things turn pretty demented after that...actually really damn demented!
For instance: "The other woman, nude but for the lizard-green thong, crawled on her back in a wavy pattern, her eyes throwing bleeding light over the door. The tapping came from the countless spindly legs that had sprouted from her spine, and she crawled at Chris like a hellish millipede"
Oh yes!! What! Trust me it gets even better...Yeah that's enough spoilers for you suckers that haven't dropped the dough for this one yet.
If you love the genre and haven't given Shane a chance yet, well don't be no fool and get yourself some. His stuff is fresh and original, well written and every word shows how much he loves to entertain his readers. You ain't gonna find no dry, dull witted prose here. Instead your going to get your ass entertained! This guy is the very reason I love the horror genre so much. Fantastic stuff!
