Book Description

Chris Taylor is a good-for-nothing loser, living off his late pornstar mother's inheritance in a rat-hole apartment. Chris has absolutely nothing going for him until the night he decides to complain to his neighbors about their pounding music--and finds all but one of them butchered. But the bodies don't stay dead, they reanimate and reform in bizarre, horrible ways, and now it is up to Chris and his tenuous alliance with a drug dealer named Spade to put an end to the demonic menace before it's too late.

And all Chris has to do is bleed...

"Unflinching and uncompromising, tough and talented, Shane McKenzie stands at the forefront of the next generation of horror writers." --Bentley Little

"Shane McKenzie has the kind of imagination that should require a license to operate. He is one to watch." --Ray Garton

5.0 out of 5 stars I have seen the future of horror... 15 Feb. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I discovered Shane McKenzie through the wonderful limited edition, DRAWN AND QUARTERED, published by Thunderstorm Books and, since finishing this excellent collection of novellas, I have purchased everything the author has written and I am happy to state that each new title has just just added to my belief Shane McKenzie is a writer (a horror writer) who delivers the goods with every word.

BLEED ON ME is a prime example: the novella is exceedingly fast paced and absolutely filled to the brim with blood, potent imagery, invention and character. BLEED ON ME holds nothing back. If you like your horror fast and loud then this is the man for you.

Brilliant.

4.0 out of 5 stars Monster carnage! 2 Feb. 2013
Format:Paperback
I bought this (well asked for it as a Xmas gift) thinking it was gonna be a zombie horror romp, how wrong i was.
Very fast paced, grim in parts monster/demon horror that has taken influences from the Thing, also reminded me of some of the party scenes from the 90's Manga film Devil man. Twisted mutated bodies seeking to feast on human flesh. I would recommend this as a good quick read. Gonna check out more of his stuff, 'All You Can Eat' from Deadite might be my next McKenzie stop.

5.0 out of 5 stars IF SHANE MCKENZIE WANTS TO BLEED ON YOU, LET HIM 6 May 2013
By satisfied customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I love discovering new authors to read. My tastes pretty much run all over the place like diarrhea too. As long as something looks remotely interesting and is not in a foreign language I'm willing to give it a read. I have always seemed to have a far more intense appreciation for things that are on the darker side or might be considered required reading for the literary insane. I have been wanting to check out Shane Mckenzie for a while simply based on the fact that I have always heard he is way over the top. Let me quickly dispel any curiosity right here and now and say this expectation was met like a fist to a jawline when I got a hold of my first Shane Mckenzie book, Bleed on me..... or maybe I should say, when it got a hold of me.

I don't really like reviews where some beef jerky head tells the whole story and then expects people to just run right out and read what they already just read. So, here ya go.... Bleed on me begins with Chris, who just wants his neighbors to stop blasting their loud music. Pushed to the brink he decides to pay them a visit and tell them he's gonna call the law or else. S*** hits the fan and then some, going way past the limits of "or else" here, and from there the reader is shot out of a cannon and only permitted to land when Shane Mckenzie says so by screeching this ride to a halt. That's it for background and story, folks. All you're gonna get from me because I think that if you like balls to the wall horror and action and want to have your mind blown to smithereens you really need to be reading this monster of a tale rather than reading about it.

This is the first thing I have read from Shane and absolutely will not be the last. In fact, I think we are just getting started in our reader meet author blitzkrieg. He seems like a writer made just for me. Well written and paced to perfection, he delivers the gory goods before the reader even has time to settle in. This particular story goes easy on the build up and cuts straight to the good parts. By good parts I mean lots and lots of parts and fluids being tossed around. In your face practically. This is one book that should come with a raincoat.

Shane has been added to the top of my "yes, more please" list. He has a good sized back catalog of titles and I can't wait to read every single other thing this guy has already written or plans to roll out. I feel like one of those people who has come late to a really cool party after everybody else has already thrown up and passed out. Now that I'm here I don't wanna leave. So yes, bring on the sickness. More please.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Year of the McKenzie 6 Sept. 2012
By Crappy Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Whoa! Like the proverbial bat out of hell Shane Mckenzie has ridin onto the horror scene with three amazing novella's so far this year, this being his third release (and yes! there's an awesome collection coming from Thunderstorm books around October). And by all that is unholy this guy delivers non-stop stories that are just what the mad doctor ordered.

This recent outing from the fine folks at Abattoir Press is edge of your seat writing at its finest. Hair pulling, gruesome, demented, action driven and a heck of a lot of fun to read. This guy just keeps giving books that you can't put down. Plus each of his latest offerings: Infinity House, All You Can Eat and this one are all extremely unique and individual in their execution. It's like taking the best of Troma, Fulci, nightmares, hallucinatory turns of expression and a nice healthy slice of humor and condensing it down to its basic and necessary ingredients to give the readers one of the best story journeys money can buy.

So if you can't get enough of the blurb and need a run down of how the story bleeds onto the paper it goes a bit like this...Chris the "lazy" no "good" son of an deceased porn star is just trying to enjoy his evening with his pizza, but of course he has to attempt it with the pounding music from his neighbors below. After a quick trip down to the neighbors apartment to ask for them to turn it down some, Chris stumbles upon one messed up scene. Bodies ripped to pieces everywhere and a crazed drug dealer named Spade whose very much alive among this bloody mess. Well things turn pretty demented after that...actually really damn demented!

For instance: "The other woman, nude but for the lizard-green thong, crawled on her back in a wavy pattern, her eyes throwing bleeding light over the door. The tapping came from the countless spindly legs that had sprouted from her spine, and she crawled at Chris like a hellish millipede"

Oh yes!! What! Trust me it gets even better...Yeah that's enough spoilers for you suckers that haven't dropped the dough for this one yet.

If you love the genre and haven't given Shane a chance yet, well don't be no fool and get yourself some. His stuff is fresh and original, well written and every word shows how much he loves to entertain his readers. You ain't gonna find no dry, dull witted prose here. Instead your going to get your ass entertained! This guy is the very reason I love the horror genre so much. Fantastic stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gory Goodness! 14 Oct. 2012
By tristan1331 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
"Bleed On Me" from Abattoir Books is Shane Mckenzie's 3rd novella to be released. His first 2 books being "Infinity House", and "All You Can Eat". All 3 of his books have been written in different styles, and have different themes. Shane excels in writing in these different styles. I loved "Infinity House" when it came out, and when "All You Can Eat" came out I loved it even more. Now that "Bleed On Me" is out, I can honestly say that Shane is my new favorite writer. "Bleed On Me" is a fast paced book. It was over before I knew it. I'm not going to give out any spoilers here, but this book is amazing. If you like Extreme Horror, this is one of the best there is. With this book you will get homages to other horror movies, some comedy, totally inventive and amazing creatures, gore, and blood by the gallons (literally). The thing that I love the most about this book, well besides the amazing creatures, is the ending. I was expecting the ending, but the aftermath and the final paragraph took me by surprise. This is one of the best endings ever. It goes from Extreme Horror to the max, and then ends tenderly. Do yourself a favor and get a copy of this, you won't be dissapointed.
4.0 out of 5 stars Bloody Good Time 14 Feb. 2014

Fast paced and frenetic, moves at an almost claustrophobic pace. There is gore aplenty, but I did feel a bit short changed on the story, that is the personal element that his other books have had. Still a great ride.
5.0 out of 5 stars First Blood 29 Aug. 2013

This is the first thing that I have read by Shane McKenzie, and it won't be the last. This book is crazy, and I mean that in the best way. I have read a lot of bizarro and hardcore fiction and this one is great. It is a high octane ride that had me laughing, wincing and nearly gagging at part. Shane McKenzie knows how to write and I can't wait to grab more of his books!
