My favourite film of all time and they have deleted it in this country - WHAT A TRAVESTY!! Those waiting for it to go to DVD will not have their wish fulfilled. We need to treasure home grown talent like Brannagh rather than trashing their original and brilliant creations not obliterate them off the face of the planet.
The film is truly reflective of the lovely and barmy actor types that I have worked with or come across in my experience of the 'biz and is a gentle and timely reminder of what actors and artists should be and want to strive for before the crashing blows of Big Brother and X-Factor came to dominate what being a performer is all about. This gorgeous little gem will bring delight and amusement to anyone looking for an original, witty, intelligent and endearing production without a sniff of CGI or box office big guns. Even Joan Collins' performance in this is one of note and all the other actors truly relish the three dimension and appealing characters that they had the good fortune to be cast in. Bring on the DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a little gem of a movie - but is it EVER going to be released on DVD? Don't really see what the hold up is...
I 've seen some dire DVD releases in my time, so surely a film as good as this should benefit from a DVD release?

Why not on DVD? 30 Mar 2010

We watched this on release and have had the VHS all these years. It is such a shame that it has not been released on DVD and I can't understand why....! This is our "family's film" the one film which we all love and would watch over and over and are now truly missing! Why not on DVD yet? When might it be?

A near perfect little film.
I saw this film in a small cinema in London with my son. My sides ached at the antics of the cast and, when the film ended, the entire audience applauded; I have never seen that... Read more

Is there anybody there?
This is getting tedious - and depressing.

1. Over a dozen reviews (and there would be more if it were better known) - all 100% favourable.

Where's the DVD?!
I agree with the other reviewers: this is a little gem; a neglected masterpiece. Like several of them, I too wonder where on earth the DVD is? Read more

In the Bleak Midwinter
One of the funniest films I have ever seen. Pity it isn't better known.

Brannagh's Finest Moment
This is a film that I went to see at the cinema on a whim. I liked Kenneth Brannagh's earlier films, especially Much Ado About Nothing, and had a couple of hours to kill. Read more
