A great e book for that plane/train journey or even just for days when you don't feel like getting involved in a whole novel. Firstly I have to say that I don't like e books. I suffer from floaters in my eyes , that gather like a blockade when I try to concentrate on the story and focus on a screen. (Bad enough when reading a paper book or typing on a PC or IPad ) I have tried all sorts, dimming the light, enlarging the writing to no avail, so consequently I rarely buy novels for the Kindle app on the IPad. I carry my iPad everywhere, it's slim and fits in my handbag, unlike the books I read! The idea came to me one week, after I had carried around a book I didn't get to read more than a few chapters of, that maybe I could download short stories to kindle app. It would be something I could dip in and out of, especially on journeys, wouldn't need too much concentration and and no extra bulk to carry. This kindle book was one of the couple of downloads I tried out. I'm glad I downloaded them , they have opened up a whole new world to me, not to mention keeping my bag lighter. On the strength of reading this e book of Gerald's I have downloaded Bleak midwinter Tales 2 . The stories are quirky, spooky, twist in the tale, dark and light... No time to be bored with samey tales ... Definitely better than the 'popular' women's story mags on the market... There is nothing twee about Gerald Hornsbys writing. I look forward to reading more of his work.
