I bought this as a replacement for a Rockband Band in a box version, which I received as a Xmas present and had inexplicably died and would not emit any signals of life no matter what I did to it.
The reason I bought this particular guitar was due to mainly price. Whilst I play Rockband and enjoy making a great sound trying to keep up with the coloured dots rolling down the screen, I have to admit that I will never be able to devote enough time to this game to warrant spending large amounts of money on fancy real wood versions of the guitar controller.
Therefore, when I opened the box for the controller I was not surprised to see a cheap looking guitar controller (not as good as the version from the Band in a box) and a set of imaginatively translated instructions. Luckily, even though the instructions were amusing for their mangling of the English language, the set up of the controller is easy to understand provided you have done this sort of thing before.
The first thing I did was to take the shoulder strap from my previous guitar and fit this to the new one (no strap supplied) and then steal the batteries from the old controller (no batteries included) before connecting the wireless dongle and getting the controller to speak to the PS3. After this, everything worked smoothly and I have had no problems so far. It should be noted that the wireless dongle fits both PS3 and XBox 360 consoles.
Overall, the product did what it said on the tin, the price compared to others is easy to see why when you open the box (and notice what is not included), but for a part time Rockband wannabee like me, it does what I expected.
