Great product but beware............,

I was given this product a year ago and found it worked a treat every time. The set up is easy and straight forward as the on screen instructions guide you through. Even the first time you use it you'll be watching region free within 2-3 minutes. HOWEVER..........My old style PS2 finally gave up the ghost in January and I immediately replaced it with the new slim line model only to find that the region free disc doesn't work with it. I assume that it's something to do with the new model having a manual door release so the unit knows it's been opened and won't play the restricted DVD. The old model had an electrically opened door which the region free disc operated for you hence "fooling" the unit and allowing it to play. I have tried this on someone elses slim line model with the same result.I also see that someone else had the same problem with the silver unit released last year. Overall, highly recommended if you own the old unit but not if you own the new. I gave this 4 stars as there is no warning of this on the product or their website.

Gutted!,

I was gutted to find out when i received my region free DVD disk, that it wouldnt work on my tv (must only support 60Mhz)! Unsure if dvd region X worked i went for the cheaper option and bought this one. It will play all muti region dvds but on my TV they turn out black and white. Even though my TV is new it must not support american and other region DVD's. I would definatley advise checking your tv's compatability before purchasing this item, but for severn gold ones i cant really complain. I gave this item 3 stars due to price, easy to use, but a few stars short due to its compatability. All i need to do is buy a new tv, DAMN..

Does exactly what it says on the box,
This review is from: DVD Region Free (Video Game)
I was initially dubious this would work, but as you don't require an additional memory card it was the cheapest way to try and watch imported DVD's. After a brief read of the instructions I loaded the disc then loaded my R1 disc, and it worked perfectly. I was using the Sony S-Video connector and it looked an absolute dream (thankfully my 8yr old Sony telly can handle a 60hz NTSC image). First time set up took about 4 mins but once you've done that every other viewing just requires you to boot the disc and then swap to your DVD.I would have given it 5 stars if it had let me use my Sony DVD remote, but it disabled the extra features, but you can still use the remote as a basic controller (all the extra features return when viewing a R2 disc). All in all the cheapest and most straightforward way to view imported DVD's
