The first studio album by Canadian metallers Cryptopsy is a real gem. Chaotic drumming and blastbeats mixed with brutal riffs and melodic guitar solos. Lord Worms very low growly vocals are not to everyones liking....but the brutal music will have you moshing like a maniac!!! This is just the start of Cryptopsy's quest for extreme metal domination; Standout tracks include Abigor and pathological frolic. A must buy!!

This is awesome. A true statement of bone-crushing intent from cryptopsy that places these canadians instantly amongst the brutallest of the brutal, gutwrenchingly severe but with an interesting twist of its own.
What distinguishes cryptopsy from the likes of the allmighty cannibal corpse is the variation and sheer intensity of their rhythm assault and their innovative use of death-metal blast drumming. This is some hammering stuff, these beats twist and turn mercilessly and with a totally unconventional structure.
Add to this several layers of raw, evil guitar sound combining detuned grind n blast with an excellent sense of melody, a bass sound sound that truly punches through the songs instead of rumbling away behind and some of the nastiest, snot-gargling hisses and growls ever and you have a huge, dirty monolith of a death-metal band. This will punish your ears and turn your stomach. Oh yeah, and the lyrics and samples are funny ('I kick arse for the lord!!!!')

This is the first studio from the now death metal giants cryptopsy and wow; its superb.
This album is brutal and relentless. From the second the first song starts you are pounded with unforgiving blast beats and you cant help but mosh. They have there own unique sound due to their original vocal style (a flemy growl) and they feature the bass and drums more than guitar. They sound different from other death metal bands but still have the intensity and brutality that defines death metal.
As it is the first album it suffers from very poor production, but a good pair of speakers or head phones should take care of most of that (and besides thats just part of the thrill of death metal).
If you are into death metal you should buy this album now, its a must have, and if your not then what the hell are you doing reading this, go away!
