Blaque Ivory, the budding starlets under the wing of the late, great Lisa 'Lefteye' Lopes, are surely just on the verge of making the big time? Natina, Shamari and Brandi are all very attractive, have great voices, write their own music... well, they should make the big time based on this album, a blend of pure pop ballads, down 'n' dirty r'n'b, and a big hunk of cheese to layer the album.
Debut single, '808', is definitely one of THE best on the album. A fantastic beat and great chorus, but it kinda gets a bit repetitive towards the end. Still a good track. 'Roll With Me' is another slice of r'n'b, done spectacularly, and 'I Do' walks the tightrope on that verge between pop and r'n'b, with a poppy chorus and r'n'b verses. 'Rainbow Drive' is a song about unity and getting along with others, not the kinda thang your average r'n'b fan would go for, but it's just such a corny, sing-a-long type song that you've gotta love it. The cover of Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' is ace, even if the girls' developing voices occassionally can't cope singing such a powerful song. 'Bring It All To Me' (feat. N*Sync) is a decent enough song.
The best two songs are towards the latter half of the album. 'Mind Of A King' is supremely stylish, with a hypnotising quality to it. 'When The Last Teardrop Falls' is the big, no-holds-barred ballad on the album, unashamedly pop, and the girls sound great on it. More like this please.
Also look out for the radio things at the end of some of the songs, where people call in to the girls and either insult them or get confused. They're great!
So, Blaque Ivory have certainly released a stunning, self-assured album with this eponymous debut. They are just as good as any modern r'n'b girl group, but not quite yet in the same league as Destiny's Child and co. Just give them a bit of time, try out this album, and I think you'll agree - these girls are gonna be big.

Its not a horrible album, but its not amazing either. I think the problem here is that they have very poppy stuff on here and r&b stuff here, along with 4 slow ballads thrown in at the end, so to me the album doesn't flow as it should, plus you have these radio interludes, where callers have supposedly called in to give their comments on the group & all end up slandering them - which to me wouldn't be so bad if the album was great, but you kind of think that some of the comments are actually on point, which surely defeats the object?? Its a bit disappointing to know that the dearly departed, yet very talented Left-Eye had a hand in this group's album, as you would have thought she of all people would have helped this project be a bit less cheesey. I am sure that Blaque are lovely young ladies & I am all for musical fusion and experimenting, but the songs on this album don't mesh or flow together, so it sounds like just random songs put together. 808 (their first single & the best song on the album) is great but it stands alone, as there is nothing on the album that sits next to it in terms of sound or quality, and you kind of ask yourself why is this song on here - even though its great - its quite fit. Rainbow Drive, I Do, Bring It All Back to Me & Right By Your Side are OK too I guess, but overall it is very forgettable & you wouldn't have this album on repeat.

this music is the articulate cut through destiny's child and TLC's level of vocal ability and sound. The young trio have prove themselves and almost cut themselve short in this stunning debut, ready to tease the levels on your stereo. The lead singer (then - 16 yr old brandy) certainly displays a wonderful arrnagement of vocals. There's ballads, soul, Rap and the ACE track produced by R KELLY "boom 808". worth the cash, and clearly not to be forgotton - look out for one of the members featuring on a track in the charts now...
