Provincetown printmaking masterpieces 3 Oct. 2009
By Gary Comoglio - Published on
Format: Hardcover
I am a printmaker, and I appreciate the quality and artistic journey the Provincetown artists pursued from 1915 through the 30's. Out of that came one of the only American contributions to woodcut printmaking, the white line woodcut. These colorful prints expanded the vocabulary of cubisim, modernisim, and american art all at once. This book is jam packed with colorful images of the works produced and the history of artists in the Provincetown area. It is an exceptional book on a very little known art movement. Once you have this book in your hands you will become an immediate fan.

I am an artist and buy books for reproductions. These are decent size but the color is quite flat. It would be better to print your own reproductions from images available online. I can't comment on the text as I did not read it.
