Entirely self-taught while growing up in the Franche-Comte region of eastern France, Raymond Blanc has been a restauranteur since 1977, and has nurtured the talents of scores of the world's finest chefs in his kitchens. The face of the BBC's The Restaurant, in which he puts nine couples through their paces for a chance to become his partner in owning a restaurant, Raymond was recently awarded an OBE in recognition of his efforts to promote culinary excellence. Author of the seminal Foolproof French Cookery and owner of a number of Michelin-starred restaurants, he was also recently awarded a Lifetime Acheivement Award at The Catey Awards - the catering industry's 'Oscars'.

About the Author

Raymond Blanc was born in Besançon, France, in 1949. He has never had a cookery lesson but he opened his first restaurant in Oxford in 1977. In 1984, he opened Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons in a beautiful fifteenth-century manor house in Great Milton, near Oxford. Since then, the restaurant has gathered a host of accolades, including two Michelin stars, three Egon Ronay stars and the description of 'Best Restaurant in Great Britain' from The Good Food Guide.

This is Raymond Blanc's innovative, creative and suggestive talents to assist with excellent ideas and tantalising dishes to compliment a host of Christmas entertaining. Simple seafood, mouthwatering roasts, delcious desserts all surrounded in festive creativity. Canapes, cakes and pastries for afternoon tea, splendid buffets and Christmas gifts. The book is a real Christmas 'treat' from a sensitive and artistic chef with real 'joie de vivre'!

As always Raymond Blanc's fayre is delicious. It is a perfect book to produce some memorable dishes for Christmas. If you choose to purchase it you will enjoy it. My wife is always referring to his receipes and is delighted with the results.
