From Amazon.co.uk

Even skeptical fans of the Blade franchise will enjoy sinking their teeth into Blade: Trinity. The law of diminishing returns is in full effect here, and the franchise is wearing out its welcome, but let's face it: any movie that features Jessica Biel as an ass-kicking vampire slayer and Parker Posey--yes, Parker Posey!--as a vamping vampire villainess can't be all bad. Those lovely ladies bring equal measures of relief and grief to Blade, the half-human, half-vampire once again played, with tongue more firmly in stone-cold cheek, by Wesley Snipes. With series writer David S. Goyer in the director's chair, the film is calculated for mainstream appeal, trading suspenseful horror for campy humour and choppy, nonsensical action. The franchise still offers some intriguing ideas, including Drake (Dominic Purcell), the original vampire, whose blood contains the secret that could destroy all blood-suckers in a plot that incorporates a sinister "blood farm" where humans are held--and drained--in suspended animation. And Biel's wise-cracking sidekick (Ryan Reynolds) in her cadre of "Nightstalkers" provides comic relief in a series that's grown increasingly dour. All of which makes Blade: Trinity a love-it-or-hate-it sequel... supposedly the last in a trilogy, but the ending suggests otherwise. --Jeff Shannon

4.0 out of 5 stars Blade Trinity (Blu-ray version).. 9 April 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
This 2004 production finally comes to Blu-ray in the UK directed and written by David S. Goyer the man who re-booted the Batman legend writing both the story and screenplay for Batman Begins the following year, he writes and directs this final part of the Blade franchise which is seen by the fans as the weakest, I personally think the wise cracking Ryan Reynolds and Dominic Purcell as Drake are miscast in their roles.

This 50 GB region B disc is encoded using MPEG-4 codec in full 1080p resolution in the original 2.35 aspect ratio with English DTS Master audio 6.1 which gives all the audio elements in this movie all the weight and clarity the music track pumps and during the hand to hand combat scenes the bones crunch and rattle the machine guns rip across the screen the explosions vibrate sub woofers in the most satisfying way, comparing this against the DVD is again like night and day, the HD encoding brings a better colour palette with a greater range of blacks, this is the "Unrated" extended cut version of the film which is 10 minutes longer than the theatrical cut and two audio commentary tracks with a set of English subtitles for the hard of hearing pretty short-signed from the film company.

The special features seem to copy the double DVD release from 2005 which included Daywalkers, Nightstalkers and Familiars: Inside the World of Blade: Trinity - 16 part behind the scenes documentary, Visual Effect progressions Goyer on Goyer featurette, Blooper reel, alternative ending and the original Theatrical Trailer all the special features are in standard definition..

3.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing 23 Aug 2005
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Considering the excellent first two instalments of this franchise, I found Blade Trinity to be dissapointing to say the least. Blade was an under the radar movie that became a cult movie through DVD sales, it was great. Then came Blade II which upped everything and in my opinion is the best movie of the series. So expectation was quite high for Trinity, especially since the writer of the first two movies (as well as the writer for Batman Begins and Dark City) was now directing. Now his vision for the chracter would be untainted by the directors of the previous movies.

Goyer was to give us two scenes that were in the two other movies scripts but were scrapped or cut due too budgeting and timing. One was a car chase involving Blade super cool car, the other was a scene showing how the vampires would survive should their plans of world domination come about. We were also promised a new team of slayers called the Nightstalkers with Ryan Reynolds playing comic book fave Hannibal King, and the lovely Jessica Biel playing Abigail, Whistlers daughter. Fight scenes were to be made more realistic and Blade was to face off against the daddy of all vampires, Dracula.

This sounded as if it was going to be by far the best in the series, all of the above sounded excellent. The execution however is a big letdown. The movie starts off okay, with the vampires searching for Dracula and finding him to be not the most friendly person. Then it movies on to the excellent introduction of Blade and the said car chase....

After this the movie seems to just lose the plot (if it has one), Whistler is killed off, Blade is captured by the FBI (a good idea actually that is again executed poorly and last about 10 mins) with the help of the vampires and Dracula, or Drake as they now call him walks around a bit and does virtually nothing. We then get a rescue from the Nightstalkers and Blade's introdcution to them.

The rest of the film continues the dissapointment, other than the blood farming scene, Blade and Dracula meet, and we think yyyeeeaahh, round 1. But Drake RUNS AWAY from Blade before holding a baby hostage while talking to him. The finale is also a huge dissapointment. Considering the finale in Blade I and II especially, with the Blade vs Nomak fight from II being the best superhero fight there is (yes even better than Spiderman vs Doc Ock), the Blade vs Drake fight is a huge anti-climax. We get a sword fight which is average and then its gets slightly better with Drake turning into beast form. But this only lasts for about two minutes and would have improved the fight it had lasted longer. I wont reveal anymore as it will spoil it. Only to say that it just doesnt live up to expectations. This is two of the most badass vampires ever going head-to-head, so I for one expected a lot more. The main gripe i have with film is that it is a Blade movie, were Blade is sidelined for other characters who are not as interesting or cool. I beleive this is due to Wesley Snipes and David Goyer arguing for large periods of the shoot, but it downgrades the movie even more.

The extended version adds about ten mintues more to the film, most of which is useless. The only good parts are a few more tidbits about Drake's past and literally a few extra seconds of Blade's reaction to the death of Whistler. The rest is absolutely useless stuff that does nothing but make the movie worse. The new darker ending is cool, but makes a scene at the end of the movie now make no sense whatsoever.

I own this movie and watch because it is Blade and most likely his last appearance, but this movie could have been so much better with either Stephen Norrington (Blade director) or especially Guillermo Del Toro (Blade II) behind the camera. A dissapointment for Goyer who is not likely to live this down for a while, as many Blade fans are furios. Read more ›

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! 20 Aug 2012
By Fraught
Format:Blu-ray
I honestly don't know why this has had such bad press. I love the Blade movies, and this is as good as the rest of them! It's not as dark as the other films, but it does deliver on the action and has a good sense of humour to it.
Don't listen to the negative reports... if you like vampire action movies, with some great one-liners.... this is the film for you!

Hmmm, looked promising, seeing how Blade 2 was a great sequel, but something was lacking this time. The jokes would have made me laugh if I were still 12 years old, although the guy playing Hannibal or whatever his name was can carry them without looking stupid; the choreography I thought was terrible - the shot seemed to cut away and cut back just AFTER the hit; it felt like I'd missed the move! The guy playing 'Dracula' would have been more imposing if he hadn't been dressed like a Mexican barman on an R and B night, but the evil ex-girlfriend thing was vaguely amusing. Blade barely seemed to have much presence this time, but funnily enough he was the only character I was interested in! Good for something brainless with lots of action (even though the moves were seemingly hacked to pieces by the editors), and thankfully it doesn't take itself seriously. Worth watching if you want to see how the story continues, otherwise watch 1 or 2.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring and lame 13 Jan 2006
Format:DVD
I totally agree with the 1 star reviewer. The vampires in this installment are absolutely pathetic, not once do you feel any of the protagonists are in danger. The fight scenes get so boooring after a short while! Why are they all kicking each other, don't the vampires have guns?! And its all wire-fighting and special effects, and the actual martial arts used are lame, the kind of fighting you were doing with your mates when you were 6 years old. Half the kicks and punches wouldn't push an old lady over, but people go flying across the room. The vampires in Blade 2 were way more menacing.

The Dracula character is contemptible! I mean, he looks like Bilbo Baggins! Pure evil my foot, he should have been leading a vampire army and laying waste to the city, not killing blind women and being mentally challenged by a little girl! Blade's sidekicks have as much acting ability and screen presence as a boiled egg. My toes curled and my buttocks cringed every time Abigail loaded her ridiculous playlist into an MP3 player before going out to kill vampires. That made her look like a looser goth teenager. As for Hannibal King, he is easily the most infuriating idiot of a character since Jar Jar Binks. His constantly delivered and, may I add, very badly composed (I enjoy a good profanity that would set fire to the cat as much as the next man), swearing made me wish the vampires would tear him to shreds, and I would weep tears of mirth. Were he not showing off his muscles all the time, you could confuse him with a potty-mouthed 5-year old.

Overall, easily the worst of the three. A lost opportunity to have a grand-finale, instead the script smacks of a writer who should be painting 'School' and 'Stop' signs on the roads, and the plot would bore a goldfish.... Read more ›
