I started in post as a custody Sgt 6 months ago, in a smaller suite working on my own and this has been a godsend. Mine is now covered in highlighted sections and even now I often find little gems of infomation in it, which when I show to far more experienced custody Sgts than me causes them to raise an eyebrow. The manual cuts through PACE and tells you what you need to know and why, there are sensible / relevant examples throughout as well. I often come to work to find the manual on the side after another Sgt has borrowed it from my desk to have a quick look through - usually when they need clarification or reassurance. Recommended.

I purchased this book on the recommendation of a freind as I was venturing into custody as the custody officer. I must say that I wasn't disapointed as the book contains everything you need to know to be a custody officer, is well presented and layed out and is easy to read. It is also a good read for anyone studying for their Sergeants or Inspectors OSPRE exam.

Bought just prior to commencing custody sgt duties. This is as detailed as you would expect from Blackstones, but with easy reference sections you can refer to on the desk !
Bit pricey but very worthwhile if it keeps you within the codes of practice.

Not cheap but a good reference manual. Until they update or change the law. Well laid out and easy to read.
