I have the second edition of this already, but when it comes to the law there is no point being out of date! This is a must have for law enforcement, border control and journalists. Set out simply for quick reference with useful pints to prove boxes for at a glance info.
It is also useful for the times you read something in the papers and think " but why don't they just do that " the reason usually involves technicalities which are easy to see in this book.

Blackstones is a reputable legal publisher and they have a full range of books used by police all over the country from crime, general police duties and the patrol officers handbook. Worth a look at the range if the subjects interests you, but they're not cheap as they are specialist, you won't see them on the three for two at a supermarket!!

Obviously, this is quite a specialist book which is ideal for anyone involved in counter-terrorist work.

It is split into 5 sections:

1. Terrorist Threat to the UK
2. Counter-terrorism strategy
3. Counter-terrorism practice
4. Terrorist activities
5. Terrorist investigations

It really is a comprehensive book that covers all aspects of the subject in a lot of detail. Section 5 on investigations is the biggest part, and is very detailed, covering all the relevant parts of a terrorist investigation and, as with all PNLD books, it has all the points to prove for all the terrorism related offences which in itself is very useful to have all these in one book.

The appendices are also really handy, Code H is in there, as are profiles of all the main terrorist groups of which there are about 58.

I train custody courses and this book has really helped in relation to custody procedures for terrorist detainees.

The book is a nice pocketable size as well.

Probably going to be the only reviewer not actually directly involved with counter terrorism work so here's a quick guide to the book by someone who seriously knows that he's way out of his depth on this subject. The subject of counter terrorism is glossed over at times by our national media and this is an opportunity to actually learn about the threat that actually is happening in the united kingdom at this very moment. The subject of cyber terrorism is covered in detail and let's be honest I'd rather read it about the threat here than be screamed at by the daily mail. In short - it's a comprehensive book with a lot of interesting subject matters but it is a text book and not sensationalism journalism. A good read but certainly not a comfortable one...
