I have had this heater for about 4 months and was impressed by it at first, with the thermostat being particularly good.
However, during operation I heard a clunking noise.
The fan blades had detached from the drive spindle and the metal fan was loose within the heater.
I went to see what the problem was and the heating elements suddenly glowed red and the appliance became very hot so I switched it off immediately.
I can only surmise that the metal fan blade had shorted out the electrics.
Being an Engineer, I opened the case and the fan blades are a poor push fit of a plastic centre onto a metal drive spindle.
I examined the internals but there was no evidence of burning.
I pushed it back on firmly and reassembled the appliance.
It worked okay for a while then the same thing happened, with the glow and much heat again, before I managed to switch it off and I am convinced that had I not been present, a fire would almost certainly have occurred.
I have now put the fan back on with an epoxy adhesive, but will be very wary and will certainly never leave the appliance unattended and intend to buy a replacement of a different type.
