Excellent Source of Information 3 Feb. 2013
By Patricia McDonald - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This work provides an excellent historical overview through present day of the development of the Caribbean. Editor Alan West-Duran has virtually done the impossible by capturing the complexities of the Caribbean people in an in-depth, condensed, non convoluted format that is easily digestible. West-Duran's compilation, however, focuses on the development of a people after slavery and moves forward from there. He has left the Caribbean of the Tainos and the Caribs for another work. "African Caribbeans" is a worthy source of information for anyone who is curious about the evolution of Caribbean people, and it is heuristic in that it provides the launching pad for further research for those so inclined.
