A very clear and well-written account of the brilliant work done by Blackett and others, bringing science, logic and sometimes just common sense to some of the intricate problems of winning the war, often fighting against "traditional" approaches favoured by the top brass.
The book is well researched, extremely readable, and gives a good feel for the anxieties and excitement of the times.
The paper and print quality is fine, but the binding leaves something to be desired, particularly the deckle edge: but this is trivial beside the excellence of the read.

Great content but printed on cheap paper with less than perfect printing and no illustrations evident in my copy :(

I don't think that many will of heard of these men and women who saved our way of life. The book isn't really about Blackett but more about using him as a vehicle to tell the story of these unknown men and women. If you have any curiosity about technology and history, or just technology, or just history, you really do have to read this book. I take my hat off to the author who has bone a fantastic job here.

Excellent book on one of the worlds relatively unsung heroes. Blacket was one scientist that was in at the start of the Scientific war. His research changed maritime aircraft colours to white and blue, that made them that more diffecult to spot. That large convoys was the way to go. A very good book

Half this book is a rehash of the build up to WW2. Much of the rest is rather superficial and broad brush. Not much new.
