This volume reprints issues 39-47 of DC Comics' Green Lantern Corps, the issues involved with the Blackest Night event. The story appears to follow straight on from the previous GL Corps collection / issues, with the Black Lantern rings appearing almost immediately, and the story being almost one continuous battle, involving sub-sets of the main characters, resolving some sub-plots from previous issues (and setting up some new ones), and eventually ending up on Earth for the climax of the Blackest Night. The final issue in the volume involved the clean-up on Oa, with the Lanterns giving the Guardians an instruction to rewrite the rule banning relationships between Green Lanterns.

YEt to read the entire book because Blackest Night: Green Lantern hasn't arrived, but one thing to say is they arranged the three main books in the most complicated way - you have to flick back and forth between them to get a sense of what is going on.

Having said that, the artwork is higher than tyhe usual standard in Corps books, and the fight scences intence. Definitely worth a read.

I really enjoyed this book. Brilliant cosmic battles & it shows how the Blackest Night saga impacted the Green Lanterns. This book has to be read if you follow the Blackest Night saga.

This graphic novel is based on the Green Lantern Corps defending their home planet of OA against the black lanterns. This novel is action packed and the artwork is okay but the overall story is mediocre. It's probably one of the best GLC novels in Peter J. Tomasi's run, the rest of the GLC novels are poor-mediocre but I'm probably only saying that because I'm not a fan of his writing. Sure I enjoy the way he writes the characters (especially Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner) but I find most his GLC stories to be kind of underwhelming. Also Patrick Gleason is not a bad artist but compared to the likes of other artists who have worked on Green Lantern over the years such as Ivan Reis and Doug Mahnke, Gleason's artwork just ends up looking kind of cartoony. I only recommend this graphic novel to hardcore Green Lantern fans and for those who want to collect the entire Blackest Night series.
