I liked the spec of this camera, even though it was pricier than some others and lacks it's own video display. The GPS is important though for position, time and speed and it probably adds to the price. But I'm delighted with it. It arrived next day, a week earlier than expected too.
3 minute packets of video vary in size but are about 45mbytes each - roughly 1Gig/hour.
Video frame grab .bmp (still image) about 100dpi and 1.2mbyte
It was as per spec so I won't describe it apart from that.
Plus:
I was up and running with it in minutes. Easy to use and quite good user manual.
The software is excellent; installed in seconds and easy to use. Watching the video with all the time, date, speed and 'G' annotation alongside the googlemaps moving display impressed even my long-suffering girlfriend Jane.
Reasonably sharp video quality.
It's much smaller, physically, than I expected, which is good. That's due it not having its own LCD display, LED infra-red lights or battery housing.
Pretty much does what it says on the tin
Minus:
Rather cheap feel to it for the money, but the results are good and its small size allows it to tuck out of the way.
Single-use sticky tape foot for windscreen not good. You want to be able to try different places on the windscreen to get it right. The unit does slot out of the sticky-foot for safe-keeping, but I tie-wrapped the sticky-foot to an old Satnav suction foot and it works fine. A suction-cup mount would be much better as standard.
Still having trouble getting video annotation to display the right time. It's adjusted via a config file opened, via the software, from the SD card. I'll get there with trial and error.
The unit over-writes the config file from the SD card when I record video. Maybe that always happens but the manual doesn't say so. Bit of a pain but the config file also sits in the programme files on the PC so not a problem really.
Haven't found a way for it to not record sound so that's on all the time.
It cannot run on battery power so you have to live with a wire-run from the lighter socket or wire it in somehow.
Video cannot be zoomed into on the software, but it is playable in media player and other video players and could be converted to other formats.
Summary - I am pleased with it and can recommend it.
