1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish 10 Jun 2011

I tried to give this 0 stars but the system wouldn't allow it. The revue on the DVD box reads as though this will be a great film. It isn't. It takes too long to get going, and the abrupt ending is pointless. Buy something else - probably mine as it will be in a charity shop near you soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful photography and stunning acrobatics 29 Mar 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The photography in this film is so atmospheric you feel you are back there with the travelling circus of the early 1900s.James Thierree is an amazing acrobat and the scenes with him and Alice in their performance are stunning. This is a tragic story though and I was not quite sure of Jodhi May's character Nina's agenda. Were they truly sisters? Would Alice really have gone off with the count or was she forced to? The ending was a surprise as well, so not really sure about this one.
