I bought this book in the belief that it would help me use the Blackberry Playbook. However it is written by a techie who says you need to be technically savvy to use the book. This defeats the object of 'dummies' books and is the only one to date that I have found totally unuseable. The author clearly likes the idea that you can use this in conjunction with other kit such as a blackberry phone. But if you haven't got a blackberry phone you don't care or need to know. It is also written in American-ease with an attempted sense of humour that just grates, he seems to like himself a bit too much. I am amazed this book got past quality control. So in summary if you want an idiots guide to the playbook, as I did, this book is a waste of time.

THIS WAS MY FIRST 'FOR DUMMIES' BOOK AND WILL PROBABLY BE MY LAST.EVERY TIME I TRIED TO FIND A SOLUTION TO A PROBLEM IT DIDN'T HAVE THE ANSWER. I NEEDED TO PHONE BLACKBERRY FOR SUPPORT BECAUSE THIS BOOK JUST ADVERTISED HOW GREAT THE AUTHOR THOUGHT THE PLAYBOOK WAS, RATHER THAN HELP A NOVICE ACTUALLY USE IT!

I've together with others wrestled for hours to set up the product, with significent failure. Over the years I have purchased many Dummies books, but this stands above all others as the most unhelpful.

Although I am experienced over the years in computers, the Playbook was a new experience. After seeing the proficiency of children with a playbook, I thought a book for "dummies" was appropriate for me. In a paperless age when paper manuals do not exist, the "dummies" book is a good substitute.

It is a very good overview of the playbook giving a foundation for the reader to build on. A limitation is that "dummies" does not mention particular problems such as linking to USB in Widows XP.

It assumes that the programmed suppliers of ebooks etc are all that a reader needs. A lead into "drag and drop" would be helpful. Overall "dummies" is a useful foundation book.

This book is excellent for all aspects in learning the Blackberry Playbook. Even a dummy like myself can read and absorb all the points found in the book.
